Wow !!! Did You Feel That Earthquake ?? We did in South Jersey..No phone service or cell phone..

Text Size The seismically sleepy mid-Atlantic states were struck by a magnitude 5.9 earthquake at 1:51 p.m. EDT on August 23. The quake’s epicenter was located in central Virginia about 54 kilometers northwest of Richmond, at a depth of 1 kilometer.

yep, rocked my house and everything in it on legs, lasted a few seconds - my very first earthquake ever!  central PA

Yep, we felt it up here in Albany, NY.  It seemed to last quite awhile too.....

Live on Va WV  border shook like hell for 12 or 15 seconds coffee spilled and a pic fell off wall in office . We all thought a gas well blew or something. employees took out the door I was on the computer and it shook the monitor to where I could not read the screen

Here's the VA quake, but there was another one just as big near the south border of Colorado.

 Since at least 1774, people in central Virginia have felt small earthquakes and suffered damage from infrequent larger ones. The largest damaging earthquake (magnitude 4.8) in the seismic zone occurred in 1875. Smaller earthquakes that cause little or no damage are felt each year or two.

Wow......when I first read the Thread Title I thought you guys were talking about the earth quake in Southern Colorado.

Interesting how two quakes similar in size, occurred almost exactly due east and west of each other (look at google maps) and were only 12 hours apart.

Yes we felt here in Crewe Va. just 65 miles from Mineral where it Originated , Got a crack in the house my microwave was shaken of the shelve , Pictures of the walls it also was my 1st Quake and it was scary.

We just had a 4.2 after shock @ 8:04
