My son dragged me to the theater the other night to watch the last harry potter movie......i hate to admit it but, it was good!.....Maybe it was just that my 17yo was looking for a way to connect before heading of to college....anyway we both enjoyed the movie and discussing it afterword....Sometimes the little things are what make life good!.....for all those parents that will be seeing their kids off to a far away college in the next few days, I highly recommend taking a few hours away from the shopping and preparing to just enjoy each other for an hour or two.

Being a die hard fan of the book, I want to see the movie but I know I will be flat out disappointed.

HP movies haven't been good since The Goblet Of Fire.  But then again that is how it is with all movies.  HP movies are worse in that they make up events that NEVER happened in the book.  That is what drove me over the edge.

These last 2 HP movies are pretty good.

They were horrible. IMO. So different from the book. Harry in the book is vastly different than the movie.

There is no way to make a movie exactly like the book....it would be horribly boeing...too many details can be conveyed in the book that would cause a movie tho run on forever....for a normal person who didn't memorize the book and had not picked it up in several years and only read it to have a common topic for dinner conversation.....the movie was fun and exciting....

Most everyone wedded to a book doesn't like the movie it is made from. I think they did a great job, considering what things they had to create. My kids all read the books and liked the last two movies,
although they admit some things were changed. Still entertaining.

I have never read a HP book but i have watched all the Films on DVD or the Television. The Last one i found to be hugely disappointing, It was filmed in the dark mostly that is how it looked on the DVD my Sister bought me to watch, At times you could hardly see the faces clearly i hope this final one is in daylight or at least part light, But  will have to wait to see it come on the Television and that could be a long time . I do not want to watch it with the Dutch Language on a DVD that would not feel right

Yeah when it comes to making a movie from a book, it will always be "different".  Due to budget & time constraints you have to chose what to do and how to present it.  I certainly understand that and expect it.

What I didn't like was just made up events (Order Of The Phoenix) in the movie but never happened in the book.  To have so much material to use, I don't see a point in making up an events or not putting in any Quidditch scenes.    if you read the book your like, "WTF is this??"  Order of The Phoenix for me was the main culprit.

I just don't like the director, David Yates.  He came aboard to do Order of The Phoenix and the movies went downhill since his gruby hands got behind the camera.  The director of the 1st (2) films was the best hands down.  Stayed true to the cource material with minor changes and great cinematography.  Prizoner of Azkaban (probably the best in all of the series) was good and had a different director.  And Goblet of Fire was decent and that had a different Director.

David Yates = Sheep Shagger

I agree if you never read the books then yes, they are decent movies.
