I have a female that has the ability to "Yoddle" when she is especially anticipating an outing, getting in and out of the van, she simply yoddles. It is a very pleasing sound and I have not heard this come from my male. I have seen this only in one other dog, Chris' Silas. It is a silly question but do you have also yoddlers in your family?

Hi Charlie, as for Blitzen, I am fine and thanks for asking. It's been a wonderful weekend, my beloved Philadelphia Eagles have clinched their division, I didn't have to cook dinner, DH took me to dine at the local pub and Blitz is fast asleep on our bed. I live at a stocked lake, lots of bass and walleyes. Newbie, Sunshine and I will be meeting for the first time in 2 weeks - we are so sorry you and your family can't join us. How could life be any better? This is off topic I think, but you were discussing e- collars on the board and I believe some of the ladies are hesitant to use them on their dawgies. I will confess that I bought one for my spoiled boy, Blitzen. He would not obey the "come" command and my husband and I had to try to catch him while he ran throughout our yard laughing and thumbing his nose in our faces - "catch me if you can, suckers". The e-collar was the best dawgie purchase I've ever made, one correction was all it took, he now comes like a jet plane when he hears - "Blitzie, come darling". I bought an Innotek SD 302A, it has a number of different levels of correction as well as a vibration and clicker option. Trust me, ladies, it will not hurt your dog to use one of these e-collars and it beats the hell out of chasing a 95 lb dog around the yard. Just remember to give the command first, the correction second if there is not an immediate response. Your dawgy will soon get the picture. I found the best price online at Omaha Vaccine. Cheers.........

sunshine, you are a freakin nut....lol. Got a lead on Bo do ya?

by sunshine on 29 November 2004 - 03:11

Charlie, no news on Bo. Alpha called laughing and wanted to hear her Yodel. But she does not Yodel on the phone. If you have a dog that can do it, you know it. Just so much anticipated joy. My girl can yodel. Blitzen, e-collar only in the hands of someone that does not think they do not have to lay a foundation on the dog. E-collars all over the pet store with no instructions, no training. NOPE! Have Gally always on the collar when we are out biking and the dogs free from leash. Why? He is so friendly, if he sees a stanger he wants to go right up and greet them. And that big dog with his big head and dark muzzle will make the strongest hunter cringe. So, we have alittle security so to speak. Just a safety vest so that he can be free and wild like a young dog should be but if need be under control. Hardly use it anymore. He knows. But rather be with it than without it until I am absolutely sure he knows the behaviour I expect of him. By the way it is really important that the dog not connect the collar with the correction. In other words, he should carry it at other times to and especially before you ever initiate the zap. Otherwise, you are simply back to square one. If the collar is on, I will do what you want. If the collar is off, I will do what I want. Sunny
