Sorry for being off topic but how can you tell a difference of a 8week old pup if their going to be good in show or be good in a pet home? Can somebody please explain this?

gsdwins About your situation, sadly I don't think the AKC would be of any assistance to you. Do you have reciepts etc for your transactions? If so, I would think contacting the States Attorney in that state would be a start. You could try having an AKC/SV judge give you a written eval of the puppy as well that denotes any and all disqualifying faults, additionally, have your vet do a summary of all procedures performed on the puppy to date, outlining all your visits etc. Keeping good records is the first step in trying to recoup some of your loss. Very sorry for your situation, and the best of luck in resolving it.

GSDwins, It will depend what you have in writing from Ajaye whether or not AKC will get involved. If this puppy was represented to you in writing as being AKC registerable, then AKC should help. Their rules and regulations clearly state that anyone who transfers a dog represented as AKC registerable MUST provide the registration form or a WRITTEN statement providing the names and numbers of the sire and dam, the reason the registration form was not provided and when it will be. I doubt Ajaye would want to have her AKC priviledges revoked, so that would be a good starting point IMO. You would probably need to send copies to AKC of all your correspondence with Ajaye, in particular anything relating to the dog's being AKC registerable and the AKC status of the parents. As far as the quality of the puppy, AKC will not intervene as they would consider that to be a contractural issue. However, you could certainly hire an attorney versed in dog law, there are plenty around. I hope it all works out for you. I feel a lot of concern over that puppy as well and hope you can find a way to get satisfaction other than returning him. Buyer beware!!

We sad for this breed, have sellers like Ajaye. We so many time to hear so many people burn by Ajaye. Hear from all USA many times same type story, give big money, get pup, find im problems, get no help, get no money back, no choice so keep dog, keep on to pay vet and many maybe expense for dog with no papers. no take dog back by ajaye, sometime make have to pay even more for replacement " better" pup what is big surprise come available, but keep first pup. We ask maybe is like broker only what have no real kennel. So is why strange address also problems for no get papers or not take back, maybe no puppies make born there. Maybe Ajaye only exist as post office box make for people put big money in? For get what back? So, is just broker or Ajaye make buy to sell? maybe not even real kennel, maybe never even see pups what are selling from home breeder or other, to buyers what are innocent and make contact from see big internet site. Maybe so why some ok some many not ok? Ajaye can say any what want on phone to make big sell pup. Will work good for ajaye if buyer can make no trip to litter to make choose. So easy if ajaye make up story of import some pup from litter. Make buyer commit to big promise and story with money deposit before " bring over" .Sell as Real quality from buy German cull dogs? If make sell so ajaye pick pup but buyer who never come never see kennel, say ok make ship pup pick by Ajaye for buyer, then who ever see real place from pup really coming? Anyone? No one? Maybe Ajaye never see pup? Is maybe No Ajaye "kennel" just name? We do not see such a Ajaye kennel or owner of name at any working trial, not at showline. Sad for no idea how to make help. Maybe could ask for SV or AKC as must have make answer to this question before. We wishing luck for you find good answers.

Hello, I can not comment personally on this Ajaye Kennel as I have thankfully had no dealings, nor would I, with the owner. However, this kennel and the owner have repeatedly been mentioned, not only on this board, but others, as well as other listserves dedicated to GSDs for pulling the same stunts this person is now complaining about. The owner of the kennel has repeatedly supposedly cheated people, sold them dogs not suitable, failed to provide papers etc. Etc. I can tell you now that the AKC will do little or nothing about this situation. Do not even waste your time. However, if some of you who have been burned get together and file a complaint with the WDA GSDCA (who have a breeders code of ethics) and with the United Schutzhund Clubs of America, there might be hope that this person would, at the very least, be kicked out or sanctioned. But because no one takes complaints where it can do some good, others fall into the same traps because they fail to do their homework. There are generally two sides to a story. However, there are some breeders out there who come up over and over and over again, not only on such public forums, but in person as people call me wanting to know what they can do. Those of you who have been truly burned need to take it to the limit to stop this kind of abuse. Those of us listening say again and again, do your homework! There are several people on this and other boards who are ethical, honest, knowledgable and willing to help. Before going off half-cocked, delay gratification and learn what you must about GSDs, breeding and breeders so you do not end up in this situation. As for Brittany and a mentor, good idea, but who would try with someone like her who does not seem to have the capacity to listen and learn?

by Blitzen on 25 November 2004 - 17:11

For starters, Brittany, a show prospect puppy will not have a bad bite. The way the bite meshs is a very basic charactersitic of any dog and any fool can tell whether or not a puppy has the correct scissors bite. It doesn't take a breed expert. Bad bite, pet quality puppy and it should never be sold to a buyer who is not aware of the problem and who has not agreed to wait it out to see if it goes scissors in time. Puppies like that are generally sold at very reduced prices or at no cost by ethical breeders, only the unethical ones will put such a puppy on a plane and ship it to a trusting buyer without already have talked about the state of the bite. Factor in the tapeworms and underweight condition and no one on their right mind could have ever thought this would be a show/breeding prospect and represent it as such. It's just good common sense, no skill is required; what's missing is ethics.

Hodie, You are not correct, AKC will intervene here if GSDwins has in writing this puppy was represented to her as AKC registerable (assuming both parents themselves are AKC registered). I have mediated 2 such cases for members of a national breed club, the dogs were sold as AKC registerable, but the sellers did not provide the registration forms. In both cases, the owners were awarded the papers by AKC and the sellers' AKC priviledges were temporarily revoked. In one situation, AKC asked for a legal ruling on the ownership of the dog and this was accomplished in a local small claims court, the seller ordered to pay all court costs. It's not a quick fix and could take months or even a year to get resolution, but GSDwins should never give up trying to get the registration forms. Getting reimbursed for lack of quality in that dog is an all together different story. As I stated previously, AKC will not get involved in contractural issues such as complaints about the quality or health of the dog. I am hoping GSDwins does both, follows through with your recommendations and contacts AKC assuming she has the necessary written documentation. This breeder deserves to be taken out of her zone of comfort and made to understand that not everyone is going to take being cheated without making a lot of waves.
