Dear list member, I curious that 2-2 linebreeding is OK according to SV? meaning of this, A bitch can mate with brother who is coming from different mother but same father? Regards Igor

No, the closest you can do without permission is 2-3 or 3-2. I know of only one case many years ago, there it was permitted and that dog was linebred 2-2 on Sara vom Sonnenberg, Lex's and Lasso die Val Soles' dam. Chris

Tiekerhook Kennels (Netherlands) have an upcoming litter 2-2 on Nick Heiligenbosch. I wouldn't do anything beyond a 2-2

check out the vom gelper hoff kennels this has been done there recently with great success

surely this close mating is full of potential problems ?

Unless you had a very particular reason, why would you even want to! As nak states it may often have been done with 'great success' but beware: it's mostly a case of worrying about what you can't see (and creating problems for the future?) rather than what you can! (as with almost everything in life!). And, the 'successful' pups may well only exist at the expense of the obviously defective ones quietly culled. To initially establish the Breed, out of necessity, inbreeding was resorted to as matter of course, but also accompanied by a ruthless weeding-out of unfit specimens. Besides, as most Show lines already all lead back to Jalk, Utz and then Klodo, why would you wish to concentrate bloodlines even further.

Let's put it this way..... I don't think anybody in their right mind would even touch a dog from a 2-2 with a 40 foot long pole. I, personally, would need a 70 foot long pole........ boy oh boy................

Silbersee, "No, the closest you can do without permission is 2-3 or 3-2." you say but Nak say that "check out the vom gelper hoff kennels this has been done there recently with great success" Which one is correct? Is that legal or normal according to SV rules? Regards, Igor

Igor, You can do a 2-2 breeding in GERMANY with SV special permission, otherwise the closest you can "legally" do is 3-2 or 2-3 according to their rules. Other countries do not need SV permission (Belgium, Holland, USA for example) and can do 2-2.
