Hello all, Would appreciate some help here. I have recieved a request for 4 dogs, from a person in Thialand. He wants various ages and sexes and some to be unrelated and titled some are puppy requests. I just find it a little hard trust and would like to talk to someone from Thailand personally. Thanks in advance,

Hi gsddebby, I'm not from Thailand but Australia.A few years ago I attended a couple of GSD shows in Bangkok where there were a lot of imports (from Germany) & they all seemed to be well looked after & happy. On the other hand I've seen pure bred dogs (including GSD's) at the giant Chatuchak (weekend) market. Some looked as though they could walk into a show ring.Generally most of the pure bred dogs I've seen in Thailand have been well looked after.I guess when people have spent a lot of money on a dog they want it to stay happy & healthy. This is just my observation over a number of visits to Thailand, it probably doesn't help you decide whether you should sell dogs to this person. Rod.

Don't do it unless you know where the dogs are going. You should have some common sense about where you are willing to send your pups to. Do you know anything about Thailand?

This is not a country where they do not wind up in the pot. No qualms about India and their reverence for all life. But certain parts of Asia you should stay away from, unless you know where the dogs are going and for what purpose.

Debbie, I'd do some real deep checking into this request before I'd give any consideration to going through with such a transaction...there have been multiple scams going on for the past few years which involve requests for breeding stock out of the clear blue sky, enough so that the FBI has become involved in the cases targeted at US residents. How did this person come to find you? What are their plans for these animals? What is the name of their veterinarian, and where is he/she located (plan on checking the validity of that info with the veterinary medical association or licensing board in Thailand--the US embassy can likely help with this)...

Thanks Hexe! Very good suggestions to ad to Charlie and Rod's. I deeply appreciate it!

I'm also not from Thailand but do know that there is a lot of crime there and have sold 1 Malinois to an American there because they need protection from such crime...I think the advice from above...contacting their vet and checking on them and their circumstances is a great way to start...but if dogs are bought from Germany by the people in Thailand then the ones that are trying to buy your dogs are probably on the up and up and are just trying to find dogs at a reasonable price...
