There is a breeder in my state(Maine) called Timber Ridge Shepherds. Does anyone have any information, good or bad on this breeder? Any other breeders you would recommend in the New England area?

New England has a number of reputable German Shepherd breeders if that is where you are located. Unfortunately I am up to my eyeballs in alligators right now and for the next 3 -4 days but will try to check back and post something or pm. It would be helpful if you post/pm what you are looking for in a shepherd - companion, working dog, sport dog- define what sport(s), breed showing ( USCA, AKC, UK) etc. Tell us if you have owned a GSD and if so what kind, what you did with the dog etc. More info you give us the better we can help.
Meanwhile I would suggest going to the USCA ( United Schutzhund Clubs of America) and look up training clubs in your area. Forget the web. Go to training sessions, breed shows working trial. Find the dogs you like - talk to their owners and breeders etc.
If your cup of tea is AKC - same advice go to all breed shows, specialty shows (GSDs only, obedience, agility, herding , tracking etc etc events.
Do not be surprised if a good breeder tells you they only breed occasionally (less than 1x a year) or that there is a waiting list for their pups.
Hope this gets you started. Good luck. Have fun.

To find someone with experience might be easier then you think...If you're wanting a Working dog then go to some Working Dog Clubs like Schutzhund and talk to people and ask...The same goes for Showlines...Go to your local AKC Show Clubs and talk to people and find someone that would be willing to help and that you like and can trust...
Don't be in a hurry and learn what you really want and what really fits in your life and goals...
