seperation anxiety in puppies? - Page 1

I have a lovable 18 week gsd..who is socialized consistently before work after work and walked, trained and played with frequently.Due to my work schedule 9-5, my father who is an experienced gsd owner comes to my house every afternoon and walks and plays with the puppy for an average one hour a day.{The puppy has a large 20 foot secure indoor area in the house)The puppy definitely gets more attention on the weekends..He has not exhibited any signs of anxiety or over enthusiasm when I leave or return from home. My upstairs flat neighbor that I share the backyard with has said that he has heard the puppy crying for 2 hours after I leave for work, and has offered to play with him in the morning.He also has an adult age dog that my puppy is a little nervous around. I am hesitant to do this because I want the puppy to be accustomed to my commands and not socialized with another dog when I am not there and also want the puppy to understand I am his owner/guardian alpha mom and not my neighbor. Any opinions greatly appreciated

Hi Giebel, it sounds like your neighbor wants to make you feel guilty. Seems to me that your pup is getting what it needs. You only have your neighbor's report. If your dad comes each day during the day and interacts with her and you are doing what you say you are doing, it is just a matter of time until the pup figures out the routine. Dogs love routines. Enjoy your lovable pup and don't let yourself be pulled into the guilt-trap. Sunny
