New CDC Law - Page 1

So now the CDC writes a new law which will prevent us from importing puppies to the United States. They are doing this with the "justification" that this will prevent the spread of rabies in the U.S. Of course, they are including nations such as the Czech Republic where rabies does not exist. What can we do as Americans who live in a supposedly "free" country do to overturn laws such as this?

Its been stated that the reason for this is due to canine rabies entering the US and falsified rabies vaccines. Solely coming from retail rescue dogs, like the meat trade and feral street dogs brought over from places like China, Nepal, Korea, India, Middle East, similar. There is zero reason for them to ban import of young dogs from countries safer than some regions of the US. But then that would make too much sense for the government to ban imports only from countries that have rampant disease and no animal welfare regulations. This likely will also effect dogs that travel to Europe or Canada to train or compete.

yes very unfortunate for all good breeder's in Canada and Europe! So this is your last chance US clients to import a puppy before August 1.
Who knows for how long this new rule will be .....hopefully it will change again for the good!

Want to know what to do in the US? Contact your Representatives and Senators in Congress. Then contact the CDC on their webpage and let them know why it's a bad idea. I'm just wondering how the government contractors will provide those service dogs at the same price if the breeders over seas have to hold the pups until the age requirement is met.

Hi folks, apparently there is a petition going on, our local fire department signed it and so did almost everyone we know. I will see if I can get a link to it. PLEASE spread this like wild fire.

Hi Folks,

We are importing one last pup before the cdc thing goes live. But...due to a heat embargo for Miami, (Miami we know exactly where to go, what to pay etc) the pup has to fly into JFK with Pet lounge Gradlyn 12 July.

My Problem is where do I go?
I am flying into JFK the morning, the flight with the pup lands at 1:30pm, the airlines does not seem to know anything about where to pick the pup up from, UGH!!!
The numbers we have just rings, and rings.

Does anyone here know where I am suppose to go pick him up? is there a shuttle from the airport to the pickup place?
What is the fees?
Or does anyone here know the right number to call?
