GSD Admin---

??? The Dislike "WHAT"?!?!?!?

Sorry, never heard anyone make such a reference. Many of us have referred to the 'dislike fairy'-- fairy, as in sprite, elfling, Tooth, etc., not as a commentary on anyone's sexuality, because you damn sure would never find me using such a word as a slur--but I have yet to see anyone use the epithet you mention.  Yes, I DO believe there is a particular Dislike Fairy who follows certain members here and would tot up a dislike for any post those individuals make, even if the post were flattering and adoring of that particular DF--I believe it because (A) I've seen it happening, and more importantly, (B) I've had the opportunity to observe the particular DF's past behaviors elsewhere and recognize it when I see them playing it out here--and I know the person is an active, posting member of this site, too.  Frankly, the Dislike Fairy thing has become a running joke, but at NO point did or does it have ANYTHING to do with that person's sexual orientation.

Yes, I did deliberately decide to post instead of PM regarding this particular comment by you, who I do consider to be a friend [in the cyber sense at the very least], because as one who has made multiple references to the Dislike Fairy, I feel the need to defend myself against any suggestion that I would overlook, let alone use, the term you cited. I'm not easily offended, but you found one of my pressure points with that one [unintentionally, unknowingly, without question, but a pressure point of mine none the less].

Really, well tell this member how you feel as he is the one who first used it and thought I disliked his post but little did the great detective know I was at work at the time it was disliked. I only quoted what was said hence the quotation marks.

I pushed Oli to do the likes but I see the children can't use them as envisioned and I will try hard to talk Oli into dumping them as they are being used by a couple simple minded 5 year olds to cause problems.

I see the dislike (fag) fairy is here...LMAO  The Face Book groups have some excellent dog training forums, like it or not.

GSD Admin, I stand corrected, and should have recognized that as being out of character for you.  I did not see Slamdunc's original post and therefore didn't realize the quotation marks were literal.

Slam, all that I directed to GSD Admin above I see I should have directed toward you, and again--I honestly expect better of you; had I seen your original posting of that phrase I would have addressed it with you at that time and not mistakenly thought it was from the 'mouth' [fingers] of Admin.  My view of you likely is of no consequence to you, but I have to tell you that unapologetic use of such slurs diminishes your character in my eyes, not just you the individual, but you as a member of law enforcement as well--'protect and serve' is supposed to mean all law-abiding citizens, not just the ones who share your sexual orientation.  I know, and knew, far too many people who were subjected to abuse--and I do mean physical abuse, as in assaulted--by both civilians and, at time, even law enforcement, for no other reason than the assailants THOUGHT that slur applicable [that much was obvious, since the term was hurled at them while they were being beaten and kicked and bludgeoned] to ever let a casual use slide past me without comment and a defensive reaction.

GSD Admin, I again apologize for my misattribution, taking as great offense to the use of degrading comments such as that one.

Hexe,

I have family who are gay and others who want gender reassignment and I would never use those words lightly or in the way that the above member used them. My family has been hurt deeply by people like this so casually using words like this. My whole use of that word was to let Mr Dunc know he is one of these dislike fairies himself and should really practice what he preaches. I love when I get dislikes as it shows I am doing the things that are right and are usually only disliked by the members who are doing the wrong things.

I have asked Oli to remove the likes/dislikes and sent him examples of how members are using them to dislike great posts only because they dislike a member for whatever childish pre-school reason they have in their twisted minds. I have also used the above example to show Oli the mentality of a few of our members. Members that the housewife club of PDB adores. It sickens me to have to deal with these members who are supposed to be upstanding members of our communities and ambassadors of the breed we all profess to love.

BTW, your apology is more than accepted and shows what kind of member/citizen you truly are, kudos to you and thanks.

GSD,
I thought you couldn't tell who likes or dislikes posts?  Hmmm, I recall you swearing you couldn't tell who hit the "Like or dislike" buttons.  But, I see you also called Moons out for hitting the dislike button.  We had a conversation about this a while back.  That's one more to add to the list.

Slam, frankly I think that he's using the same method of 'knowing' who likes and dislikes stuff the rest of us are.  Patterns and pure guesswork, assisted by timing of when a post gets it's like/dislike tag and the next post--for example, I think it's a safe bet that the 'dislike' that showed up for GSD Admin's post in close proximity to when you replied would have your name on it, if that stuff were shown...after all, it's pre-dawn hours in the Eastern time-zone, and the site's been pretty dead for the past few hours [insomniac that I am].  This place isn't nearly as 'Big Brother' as some might like to believe.

OTOH, there's also always the possibility that he had no way of knowing the source of likes/dislikes, etc., at the time he made his earlier statements, and since technology is continually advancing, now he is able to see that. So what? Neither he, Oli or any of the mods, for that matter, have any obligation to update anyone on site management changes when or if they occur.

The mistake was not just limiting it to an option to 'like' a post--hell, facebook [not a fan, but it's impossible to avoid entirely] doesn't even give the option to dislike...

Why were the TOS removed from the OT forum? They were put up here as the first post.

I thought that was very useful, because they (TOS here) are different than the other forums.

I hope they get put back up.

"I pushed Oli to do the likes but I see the children can't use them as envisioned..."

I see no point to using them if no one can see that it was me that 'liked' his/her post anyway.

Another forum I frequent utilizes "likes" only, such that when a post is liked by a member, his/her username is displayed. Works well, IMO.

Might be easier to just tell the "dislike fairy" to knock it off, or else.

Why should everyone lose something because of one or two jerks.
