Hi all! Our puppy is 9 1/2 weeks old. My husband is wondering if its normal that he didn't even try to get some turkey. He didn't respond to him accidently dropping it on the floor right next to him. He doesn't acknowledge the smell of food at all. Is that normal?

No thats not normal. Normal would be what any dog would do is be very curious trying to find what he is smelling in the air let alone putting it right in front of the dog.

He sleeps so much too. We are worried there is something wrong.

Puppies sleep a lot, but if you suspect something is not right take him for a vet visit.

I have. They said he was 100% healthy. It was just weird that while the turkey was cooking and while we were eating he didn't try to get into anything. Maybe because he was sleeping?

All young puppies sleep quite a lot, and should be allowed to.
Agree not being curious about the turkey is unusual, but it
might just be that he's been raised without any access to
table scraps / human cooked food, and therefore has yet to
work out what it is.

Assuming you got him from a breeder, phone and see what
they say. If you are worried about loose stools or vomiting or
anything like that, seek Veterinary help. Don't hang about and
take risks with a very young dog.

No loose stools and no vomiting. We let him sleep. When he wakes, we play with him. Thanks everyone. I'll keep an eye out for him.

?Wow, I can' t even comprehend that situation. I would definitely try and do some kind of, scent testing. Is he sick at all? Is he eating his normal food? I would want this figured out ASAP.

Also watch closely for loose stools. This age is prime for parvo virus. Please keep a close eye on him. Any vomiting or loose stools, straight to the vet to check for parvo.

Is the pup imported, because across the pond in Europe they dont celebrate turkey day.
