I have a 4 yr old male GSD. He is extremely intelligent..even though there are no proper training facilities for my dog he is trained in obedience and since he lives in te house with me he now understands most of what we want to do..like opening and closing doors and stuff.. he is very playfula nd if he is introduced to strangers then he gets quite playful with them.. My concern is with agggression levels..if i use the word attack on apoerson even if he is playing with him he changes to agggressive mode and starts barking and straining at his leash..He becomes normal whene ever i tell him to down and then everythin is back to normal again/... But he nevers growls or tries to bite when he is in the aggression mode..he does so with other dogs but for some reasoin i cant get him to show his true aggression with people.. He is a bilateral cryptorchid..but very masculine looking. could someone plz help..

I'm confused.. what do you want him to do?? Do you really want to be able to send him like that... I wonder why..... It sounds like you really want him to bite someone... if you aren't involved in training for a sport or training with an experienced personal protection person, you could be looking for trouble.. It's really impossible to know what is going on without seeing and being able to read the dog.... As for the cryptorchid, testicles and temperament are not one and the same.... he is what he is with ot without them and I do believe that is a health concern... lots of people don't... Sorry, I'm not seeming to be very helpful.... guess I'm just confused....

Fida, I think everyone would be confused with your question. If you are not training for sport with experience group or trainer, then what the hell are you trying to do ? Haveing someone play with your dog, then you comand attack, trying to promote agression. WOW

Fred and Dkaith.. i see that u have totally missed the point. What i wanted to say that since he is a personal protection dog he has been trained by me to do what dhe does.. the thing is that when in shutzhund u train the dog the dog has to show controlled aggression..but my one does not bare teeth seem that aggressive...this somehow limits the appearance of aggression. Since i live in a rough neighborhhood i do need him to show people that he means business. Thats what this is all about.. the whole playful thing was given to give an idea of his temperament.. i hope i have been able to clarify.

one thing i wanna add is that there r no d0og trainin facilities in my country..and i am trying to promote the gsd as a working personal protection dog..since there is a lot of crime here.. all this has been said because in shutzhund if the dog does not bite the sleeve thats a serious fault..so thast y i have my query..because since the bite is the last resort and the main weapon of the ppd then if he doesnt bit e then the whole utility of personal protection gets undermined..i am not talkin abt biting every1 on site i am talkin abt biting on command and also letting go on command

heloo mfida -- oh boy .. i think you better just hold your horses -- your approach to persoank protection , if that is what you want is a little sidetracked ..--- personal protection can be taught fun for the dog to build confidence etc etc... buty it ois not a game and not to the dog ... i don't know if you have tuaght your dog needed basic skills , also if your dog is experienced for self confidence , calmness in work etc ertc amoungst othewr steps tha tshould be taken to develop ... i stress develtop the dog along for persona; protection -- also .. personal protection dogs should have amnners .. i walk mine through city crwods downtown .. but he looks like a pet , acts like a pet !!.. but he is not to make freinds with everyone / anyone either ... he is not aggresive but as GSD calls for being amiable but he is also indifferent , calm , non aggresive ... be cafreful what you are asking and seeking from your dog .. you may inadvertanly increase his suspcion levels so high that he becomes very very unreliable and very uncertain of people - a hazard /threat .. there is a difference to being indifferent as opposed to looking at every person suspect // ---
