Hi all, I know that this was posted awhile back. But I'll go ahead and ask again. I have been told that it is safe to use Panacur (fenbendazole) during gestation? The reason I am asking, I had a female come into season early and I didn't have time to worm her before she was in standing heat. Is it safe to go ahead and worm her during her breedings? Thanks peggy

Should have also asked if it is best to go ahead and wait until the pups are whelped. She was wormed last October. thanks again

I use Safe-guard, from intervet (fenbendazole)222mg/g 22.2%. It seems to have a wide spectrum even taking care of one Taenia pisiformis (Tape Worm). The label says that 3 out of 240 dogs (1%) had vomiting associated with use of the product. I have been using it for four years on aproximately 20 different dogs, and have never had a problem with any of them. Safe for puppies 6 weeks or older and adult dogs, including pregnant bitches. (Do not deworm a dog or puppy that is sick or appears ill). Mfg by: Patheon YM Inc. Toronto, Canada and Distributed by: Intervet Inc. Millsboro, DE. application is 1 gram per 10 pounds of dog weight, times 3 days in sucession (better 24 hours apart) three times. I have never had a float come back positive, but I worm every four or five months too, and I feed RAW supplement. Are my dogs healthy, yes, maybe too healthy by some peoples standards, but I like the ribs to feel like padded bed springs, hard to find. They burn it off when cold weather sets in, but they don't shed as much, and the coats have a healthy clean shine to them. "The more people I meet, the more I love my dogs"
