First and last name policy requirements - Page 3

I was not trying to start a heated discussion. I was just trying to state that it was a long way from giving first and last names to having a stalker come to your house to get you, your family, and your dog. Saoa is absolutely right nobody is obligated to give any info. I was just trying to point out it would be way to curb some the BS that goes on if people had to think twice about what they said because they could not hide. Lets all face it. The GSD world is just like the real world. Some people do what is right because they know better. Some choose not to do right event though they know better. Others do things that make you shake your head and wonder why? I feel that this board is the best and most informative around. I would like it to stay that way. I am also a firm believer in if you have nothing to hide from then there is no harm to put your name out there. How many people do you think are named (insert your name). It would still be somewhat anonymous. I would not know Bill Smith in North Dakota ( made up name ) I live in California. So he would still be anonymous. Wouldnt he?

I think a reasonable fee will end most of it. It's not quite as attractive to harrass people, if you have to pay $75 a pop for each name registered. Pay Pal could be used, which has a secure credit card set up. Veronica

Paying a fee might do the job, or it might give those same people the feeling that they have a right to voice whatever opinion for whatever reason because they paid a fee. Also, making people give a first and last name isn't going to make anyone less anonymous. In training our dogs, we ignore the bad and reward the good. One last thing, the Miranda Rights specify that people have the right to remain silent, but most don't have the ability. These would be the reasons people reply to negative posts/comments and the bickering continues. Jeff

AKVeronica60, You know, I must be careful with what I say, but I have agreed (kind of like voting yourself a tax) with the idea of a fee for a long time. So many of us enjoy this site; and the requiremnt to pay a fee would stop those who come on here just to snipe and cause grief. Now that site is running with some paying sponsors it will probably live forever. In the past, the payment of a fee would have certainly reduced the downtime with this site, as I understand that Oli basically maintained it free-of-charge for us for all these years. A reasonable (careful again) fee would not be a problem for or to me. Bob-O

The need to bring sanity to this site and cut the libellious nonsense generated by time-wasters becomes increasingly strong every day. A fee and complete disclosure of identities must be enforced immediately. Also nom de plumes or "nicks" as known in web lingo should not be permitted. It is too valuable a resource to use as a sounding board.

A fee is fine, First and Last name why not, banning the free email accounts, don't agree. I use one, not because I am hideing but because I have used it for @ 7 years now. at home I have a dial up, never use the email acount- wife uses a sub account of it.here I am on sattelite. My web site email is forwarded to my free email account. It is because I have used this account for years and do not want to change. So charge a fee, require names, but don't punish the masses for the actions of a few. Mike
