Does anyone know the proper medical terminology in Dutch for the eye condition we refer to in the states as "pannus". Thank you.

Here is a link to an article that discusses this disease and is pretty comphrensive in it's explaination. Sorry, but it's in English, not Dutch however. Stephen http://www.workingdogs.com/doc0087.htm

Try http://www.google.com/launguage_tools?... translates words from english into other launguages. Also helpful when web pages you are looking at are in another launguage you can run them through there for translation. Hope it helps Mike

Thanks Stephen and others, I know a lot about this condition and am familiar with most of the literature. However, I need the term in Dutch. As for the language translator, this type of utility is minimally useful, unless for the most basic of phrases from on language to another. Using such sites without a firm foundation in the second language will often result in completely inaccurate meanings.

If you need to send info back to a breeder about a dogs condition perhaps, ask your vet for the latin term which the dutch breeder can forward it to their vet to determine what this would be in dutch.

Hodie, As you know, most medical terms have a Latin or Greek origin and the Dutch low-German language is somewhat of a link between the high-German and English languages. Past all that it is perhaps best to e-mail a GSD breeder in Nederland who speaks English. Dutch, whether spoken or written is hard for me to understand. Bob-O

You could call it "pannus", "Uberreiter’s syndroom" or "keratitis vasculosa et pigmentosa(KEP)" and direct your breeder here: http://www.oog-dierenarts.be/oogziekten/pannus.htm
