In my opinion this website is a wonderful resource and I visit frequently keeping track of the progeny of stud dogs that I am interested, looking up pedigrees, inbreeding and hip scores etc. I also read with caution the comments made against dogs that interest me. I now wonder, however, about the validity of some of the data. I have tonight found that two animals from my own kennels have had their data maliciously updated. Can we rely on the data if anyone but the owner of an animal can access and update it's data? I would feel far more confident in the information posted to the site if only owners can change factual data. Any reader can be aware that comments are personal opinion and treat them as such but we do rather rely on the data being accurate and I have found today that this cannot be relied upon. To the person trying to cause trouble...be aware that I will protect my reputation by all legal and ethical means possible.

That would be great, but how would you verify ownership and know 100%. I have dogs on here as well, I know of ones that are incorrect, but I don't look at this site as the gospel of pedigrees, that's what the registration papers are for. I use it as a tool, then I look/search other places to verify the information for correctness. This is a free site, anyone can sign a dog up, and not everyone has the correct information when they do it unfortunately. I don't think anyone is setting out to purposely sabatoge the database, too many people use it, so it wouldn't be a smart move. jmo

my opinion is that actual akc pedigrees should be uploaded also , a scanned copy would work well... sfd

Akc is not the only registration, though it is nice and compact on one page. What about the multi page SV - German then there's FCI for the Chex dogs not to mention all the other countries with registries. Then look at all the data entry someone would have to do to verify and check this stuff. No it is a free site use it for what it worth do your further research on you own

agreed,we can only use the data presented to us, but also selection of a pup that agrees with what we are trying to do....data can be false, but visual is our best choice....research is important..but we make the decision......
