The breed is supposed to change over time...it's called EVOLUTION. It things did not evolve,....they would die. I love both "lines" of GSD....both must evolve.

Good point DH , You say ( Anyone can shine at just one portion of the whole ) Is that not what most show lines do ? They show well but work like crap ! All of my dogs are SG, and V show Rated ! So YES THEY ARE TRAINED FOR THE RING ! MY ONE MALE THAT WILL SHOW HAS MORE schH titles than any other GSD in the wold ! IPO3 , BH , schH-A SchH3 , ZVV3 , ZPO , ZPS1 , ZM FH1 WE hope he will go high V . and he will do the ring work like a pro! We are also working on him and others for Nationals as well SO YES WE WILL PLAY FAIR ! WE JUST WANT THE REAL DEAL GSD ( WOKING LINES ) TO MAKE THEIR MARK HERE AT THE Sieger Show ! ' SEE YOU ALL THERE ! Timothy Helser www.spd-k9.com

Thats the way it should be. More working people showing and more show people working, and more people shooting for the middle. Wow, that would be cool.

???QUESTION???? Does anyonw see a difference between getting a title and being competitive? many people have titled show dogs and have had fun doing it but i dont see them being competitive. Is there a difference between a dog being a Champion and dog winning all the big shows Why would you lump the 2 together. Id say for the most part and show dog w/ a Sxh3 is like a kid w/ a high school dilpma vs on that graduates top of the class w/ lots of AP credits. sure they'll both graduate but the one w/at the top of the class represents all that expected of him during high school. If you dont agree w/ this, im curious to know why.

Let me start out by saying that I have both show and working lines. I have done many years of pedigree research and have learned what lines produce what and what to stay away from. I have trained my own dogs to titles and wish to keep it that way. That being said... The biggest draw back that I have seen and discussed with show dog owners that have dogs that could be competitive, is that there is an inate fear of their dogs being injured. Possibly even on purpose, by a biased helper who would love nothing better than to see a showline fail. Trials are not like shows in the way that you only know hours before most trials who will be the helpers. In showing you can choose the show by the judge many months in advance, if there is a concern about bias. I know of no one who would risk a VA dog being jammed on purpose or not. I personally would like to take my showline to the nationals and am striving for that this very year. I have just found a wonderful trainer to help with that and is close and afordable. Time is working against us as he is now closeing in on 7yrs old. I just wish I had found this trainer sooner!! But,,, wish us luck anyway!
