Janis - it is too bad you to go through having this mess all aired publically and in such a venue that allows such bizarre posts as some of the above. Transfering ownership accross 2 countries registries and re-registering a dog and a litter whose sire is still in Germany is alot more complex than just sending in an AKC litter registration! Heck, getting pink USA papers can take a year! My one dog was 16 months old when his came. My litter born last October is still 'in process'. Yes, I had the paranoid forethought to copy the parents registrations and all the applications for each puppy owner - as a result of hearing of other's problems with registration.

Lee, I'm used to USA being slow. It took over 1 year to get the hip stamp done on one female, all the paperwork was in order. Just the other day I received the translated breed survey from a breed survey that was done 11 months ago... crazy! Normally, I've had no problems with AKC. Have the pink papers (properly signed) and the Besh. and everything went smoothly. I, too, apply for litter registration papers before the pups are 5 days old and the paperwork is all here, ready to go out with each pup to their new home. It's just this particular case that's been a nightmare. I DO appreciate everyone's kind comments. JDN - US

Well, Ortlinda, I am not chuckling, as I have the utmost respect for Janis and anything that she has done on behalf of the GSD. So I would suggest that you open yourself to honest communication and stop using this board to wrongfully manipulate a reputable breeder caught in the politics of the organizations that we live within.

Janis - I think several breeders have had to go through 'registration hell.' It's hard for some new pet owners to understand the paperwork timeframe for dogs that are born in a foreign country or bred in a foreign country. It can become even more difficult if you throw in a co-owner. The last time I contacted the AKC, they told me that registering a dog from a foreign country could take three months or more. I would like to think most breeders are honest and will deliver papers when they themselves recieve them. Patience is a virtue, but it can certainly be tough at times : ) Good luck to everyone with their registration woes. ~ Jennifer

This all sounds a horrible nightmare! I have no experience of import/export changes to registrations here in the UK, but our KC has been very quick in all the normal dealings I've had with them. I usually go in person with puppies registration paperwork as the HQ is not far from here. That has been helpful when chosen names have been rejected and I can easily substitute another so it all gets completed there and then. Even when putting papers in the mail, for transfer or whatever, the response has been quick and efficient. TOP MARKS!!! When they finally decide they have teeth and make DNA and health checks mandatory before permitting registration we'll be really proud of them.

Honestly, Elizabeth, I haven't the first idea of what you are talking about or what issue you are addressing. I posted here for the first time just a few days ago asking about how to proceed in pursuing a breeder from whom I bought a dog who was sold to me as registered, yet I have never received the registration papers. I am NOT a breeder, I don't show dogs and never have (yet), I don't do obedience (never have), know no one on this forum, and I am a complete unknown in the dog business. I stumbled upon this web site and forum doing a Google search on GSDs, saw knowledgable breeders here, and decided to join and ask for advice. I think I got good advice. But, wow... is your comment ever out of left field tossed to a newbie! Elizabeth (Ortlinda)

Whew wow, Ortlinda, could you tell me what you typed in to get to this web? I am just curious as it took me two years to find it. Now,if you would like to give me the name of the breeder, than I could assist you better. You felt comfortable stating your problem here and please continue to feel comfortable naming your details here. If I cannot help you, believe me there will be a multitude of those that can. Look forward to hearing from you.

And Ortlinda, after the many responses to your post, am I the only ONE that you felt the need to respond to? An unknown responding to an unknown. Wow that is deep to say the least. If you truly have a legitimate complaint, I can give you contacts within the wda organization to air your problems (even as a newbie, they will respond).

Ortlinda, I really hope you can ignore the troll activity. By the way, I noticed that I was the first one you responded to...wow---deep. (Rolling eyes...) Seriously, though, the main reason I replied was because I was involved in a similar situation recently involving my male who was bred and now his puppies aren't yet registered. I was wondering if we are dealing with the same person. As I said before, you are welcome to e-mail me privately if you'd like.
