And I never was aware of specific instructions to men on how they should beat women who defy their roles proscribed in a Sharia type code! I just don't see The Ten Commandments or the golden rule to be like Sharia law at all. If you are talking about sins of crime having harsh punishments like stoning an adulteress, okay, I do remember that.
I think it just isn't fair to compare the two because the Christian NT treatment of woman has allowed for status change (for the better), but Sharia Law, does not.

If she's a 'cultural Marxist', Bee, Hillary surely has a manifesto. As SHE isn't claiming to be a 'cultural Marxist', presumably she isn't advertising that either. LOL.
BTW I agree with you about the OT v. New T v. the Koran, insofar as treatment of women goes. However, given that A) Mrs Khan gave her reason for not speaking out (and it had to do with the way she was feeling, not a religious dictat); and B) some posters do not realise that not all those of the Islamic faith support or adhere to Sharia, the whole "should it be the Bible over the Koran, or vice versa" point seems pretty irrelevant here.

I certainly never thought or gave Hillary credit for, nor claimed her personally to be a cultural Marxist leader. Only that the movement has evolved and incorporates the ubiquitous PC chant heard throughout the land. (USA).
The only gender roles I have noticed from my Turkish Muslim neighbors, (who did make their flight back home! And even brought their 16 y.o. nephew to visit here until Sept.) is that she does all the gardening-- inaddition to teaching physics at a local University. He works from home. Their young girls went to the robotics championships in KY this year, too.
They keep giving me eggs! My youngest son is doing his best to make the nephew feel welcome to hang out with him and his friends.
The food restrictions for all their friends gets to be a bit complicated. Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Philipine/Asian, African/Barbados heritage friends covers a lot of cultural bases. I have learned to keep on hand, besides beef burgers, boxes of turkey burgers, and veggie buggers, all the time. Teen boys and some girls, too, are bottomless pits.

Hans: The problem with your argument is that Christians do not go by old testament nor act upon it which is not what can be said by radical Islam.

by Prager on 04 August 2016 - 19:08
Hundmutter:Prager, where do you get the idea that ALL Muslims consider themselves bound by Sharia
law ?
Hans : Nowhere have I said such thing, yet Sharia law is the body of Islamic law. The term means "way" or "path"; it is the legal framework within which the public and some private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Islam. Thus it is true and essential for true Muslims to believe in Sharia law. because Sharia law is the law of Islam. The Sharia law is cast from the actions and words of Muhammad, which are called "Sunnah," and the Quran, which he dictated. Thus if one believes in prophet Muhammad he /she obeys by Sharia law which itself cannot be altered but the interpretation of Sharia law, called "figh," by imams is given some latitude.
The other question is what Muslims say publicly and what is in their believe privately and another thing is if they they are in favor of making sharia official law of the country.
I have trained dogs for Muslims and their house had been decorated that of Hindu. When I asked them why,.. they said that they will not make it public what they believe. This is from era 20 years ago way before 9/11 before general disdain for Muslims awas at the present level.

Wrong. Christians go by the OT when it comes to Noah's ark, capital punishment, homosexuality, traditional roles in the family, war, etc. In fact, it wasn't that long ago that men used it in order to justify women's second class status. A status they had for much of Christianity's history. And it wasn't because of Christianity that women got the right to vote but rather it was part of the social changes during the Progressive Era. So women in the West aren't treated better because of Christianity but in spite of it.
Also, I never said that Christians did or didn't go by the OT, so you are wrong there as well. Read more carefully. I said that the contents of the OT are similar to the Koran.
Finally, there are radical Christians.

@ Prager, Hillary is for equality for women,...
Hans: Hillary , like good politician pays lip service to the issue and act big if it does not cost her anything however ironically while Hillary has long positioned herself as a champion of equal pay for women, new reports show that the former Secretary of State is, herself, part of the problem. She can talk the talk but does not walk the walk.
During her time in the U.S. Senate, Clinton paid women in her office 72 cents for each dollar paid to men.
Directly from data obtained from official Senate expenditure reports, it is concluded that the median annual salary for female staffers was $15,708.38 less than the median salary for men, between 2002 to 2008.
That’s about a 28 percent gender wage gap.
