So, God was justified to destory all people the first time around because of evil. So, all the people were evil? What about the innocents? Man you people are so twisted.
I have offered Oli 1000.00 to get rid of OT, lol. Anyone willing to pay more to keep it?

I wonder if it would had been more merciful for the mother of that child in the picture had she aborted that child as a fetus, rather then to allow it to suffer a certain, slow, and torturous death,,,Think on that,,??,,Abortion is another topic I struggle with,,,

Can't say I watched that video. But I'm going to risk it, and comment any way.
I don't think it is productive to overly mull on such a course as Ruger1 describes in her post, to define what is "merciful", when that depends on usurping another's right to procreate.
I personally would think it obvious to not want to bring a child into a starvation living situation. Providing birth control as International aide being contingent on something else, wasn't that a big political deal at one time, too? But regardless, the child had already been born viable and deserves the dignity of a human being.
At different times, I might have reacted the same or different than the man behind the camera. I would think there would be many varibles for all of us. Do the best in the moment with whatever your resources: be they talents, time or legal tender. What else can any one do different?
It seems this thread's gist suggests the man's suicide was indeed guilt based, and by not helping when he had the chance and means, he garnered the despair to die by his own hand. Even if his perception was that he failed this pathetic, suffering toddler; he could have turned that failure into action, if only his solutions included the thought that he still could save others, as his future. He could change that perception with future acts. Most likely he already had an unfortunate pattern of depressive thinking that more time, might have helped him with to overcome.

"It is the job of the wealthy to give to the poor, without being legislated to do so."
You guys do know that is one of the chief tenets of Islam, don't you ?
by beetree on 13 April 2014 - 20:04
Tithing? It is a very, old moral concept. Indeed. Don't think you can give all the credit to Islam, though.

by Red Sable on 13 April 2014 - 20:04
Islam didn't even come about until 500 yrs after Christ, so Bee is correct. Besides, Islam does use quite a bit from the Bible, so not sure what that has to do with it. Giving to the poor is a good concept!

And Hinduism has its alms giving! ... and check this out.... I couldn't read it all ... but it is quite the little gem! So old, there is no copyright.
