I think we have learned a lot, like how to excuse bad behaviour to make it look good.
not sure if those history books cover stolen wages, officials were appointed to manage wages of aboriginal stockmen when a law was passed that they must be paid to work.
most never saw a cent as it all went in the pockets of the "protectors" managing the wages.

Yes; Hughes covers those type of abuses too. They happened both with Aboriginals and the
transported convicts. Parallels with the whites who ran the American Indian Reservations, I
think. And going back to Joan's original premise, things that occur in re African states.
