gouda,
Nothing is foolish, I just don't see any gain or benefit.
It's hard sometimes even for me to overcome, but Bible says:
King James Version 1 Corinthians 6:7
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
Shtal.

Hi redsable
you wrote I hope you don't mind if I write what my Bible says about that verse.
"Jesus tell us to examine our own motives and conduct instead of judging others. The traits that bother us in others are often the habits we dislike in ourselves. Our untamed bad habits and behaviour patterns are the very ones that we most want to change in others. Do you find it easy to magnify others faults while excusing your own? If you are ready to criticize someone, check to see if you deserve the same criticism. Judge yourself first, and then lovingly forgive and help your neighbour."
My reply good answer Resdsable, but you missed the most important part.
It does not mean that we are to close our eyes to the wrong character of others.
Read MATT.7:15-20 WHEN EVER YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN A CERTAIN VERSE ALWAYD READ THE WHOLE CHAPTER. Actuall ,it forbids a critical, fault finding spirit towards othe people.
