I am sure a lot of women called to Jury duty after all the frenzy of this highly talked about verdict, will find any excuse to NOT be called . All it takes in my county is a letter from your doctor.
Or we can change our courts to be a Judge ruling only system which is used in. Dictatorship government

there was and is no way to change what happened but we can not change the verdict or bash the jurors or Zimmerman

"Kind of disrespectful and tasteless Keith.  You obviously have some strong opinions about the incident, but I think you're capable of engaging a bit more rationally and productively."

I absolutely disagree.  I think it's important for us to remember what we're talking about here and it isn't some obscure philosophy; it is a human life taken unnecessarily.

Keith, I'm not going to assume that everyone in "earshot" can identify with death, but I think most of us "get it", that a life has been lost.  Obscure? Obscure may be the countless other unnecessary deaths that have not been utilized as propaganda, but were just as valuable, and the loss as tragic; it happens every day, all day.

it is a human life taken unnecessarily.

...or lost unnecessarily.  Again, I wasn't there, so I'll defer to the jury until I have facts, evidence, or reason to the contrary.  If this really wasn't "self defense", and Zimmerman had bad intentions, I'll be the first to call for his prosecution.

Is it common in Florida to seat a jury of only six?
Does anyone believe this was a jury of their peers?

Also,
the word for today is................( Unnecessary )

For many years, the Constitution was interpreted as guaranteeing a trial by a 12-member jury. However, in Williams v. Florida, a Supreme Court ruling in 1970, it was decided that at least six persons is "large enough to promote group deliberation, free from outside intimidation, and to provide a fair possibility for obtaining a cross-section of the community."

It was also noted in the ruling that there is "no discernible difference between the results reached by the two different-sized juries." However, in Ballew v. Georgia, the Supreme Court ruled in 1978 that reducing the number of jurors below six created a "substantial threat" to the sixth amendment.

Zimmerman's trial follows Florida statute 913.10 which says "twelve persons shall constitute a jury to try all capital cases, and six persons shall constitute a jury to try all other criminal cases."

One concern that arises over smaller jury sizes is that they do not as effectively represent the community. In Zimmerman's trial, where race and ethnicity play a prominent role in the case, the court has not disclosed the racial makeup of the jury. However, some reports have said the panel consists of five white women and a sixth woman who may be Hispanic.

Blitzen, wouldn't Florida also follow a voir-dire process, so that both sides, prosecution and defense have to accept the jurors, and thus assuring they are acceptable as "peers"?

At least that's how I always thought it was the way to be assured a jury is comprised of one's peers. Every time I show up for Jury duty any way.~
