It's not so funny but I knew a guy in high school who was caught peeping at his neighbors daughters through the window and took a rather good beating before the law arrived.
I knew the girls too.

He wasn't really a sicko but just curious and they ended up friends by the time we graduated.
This was before sex offender registries.

Another guy I know of was tangled up in that mess because they had been caught having sex when they were both under age, ended up married, but he's on that list.
A year or two ago they were forced to move because they lived too close to a school, this registry still haunts them to this day.

Sometimes the lines get blurred.
