Well, I'm certainly not nor have ever been that kind of woman.
This world is such a flippin' mess.

Beetree, you and I have different ideas on what reliable sources may be. In the first, the Newsweek article, which question(s) were you using as evidence to back up your claim? I don't see where it asked women who lie about pregnancy or bc failure. Just curious....As for the Dr Tara J Palmatier site, really? Did she earn her PsyD from an APA/CPA accredited school? So let's just say she did, why is she offering "counseling and coaching" not therapy? That usually means that the person is not licensed (difference between earning your PsyD/PhD and passing your board licensing exam after earning your PsyD/PhD, which means that person is not held to the ethical standards of APA/CPA for practicing psychologists, that person is not really held to any ethical standards). I put her right with Dr Phil who is NOT licensed to practice as a psychologist. What I have read of Dr Palmatier's sites is she seems to believe most other women are all Axis II, which begs the question, how much of her disdain for women is counter transference?

Me either, Red Sable, that's why they bother me and I feel disdain. The give a bad name to women who aren't so devious or careless with the gift of being a life bearer. I do believe the fetus has always been part of the mother, since the egg that it came from was present when the mother was born. Amazing, really.

Mindhunt,
I didn't see your response when I posted to Red Sable. I will address you now. The time lag makes for surprise posting orders for me, I guess because of connection speeds. I am not sure how it all works.
I think it odd that you don't believe people lie? But the truth is they do lie, and "stretch the truth" to Dr's, and lie about following Dr. instructions, and that would absolutely fall in the category of birth control. You might want to split hairs about the lying stats because the exact question pertaining to this thread was not specifically asked. I want to show that lying to Dr's or following "treatments" which includes birth control properly by women, simply happens. You need to expand your thinking to realize this does explain the discrepancy between the small percentages of failed contraception reported by the manufacturers of birth control.
If you take your stats of numbers of women claiming a failure, and fail to consider the various percentages of untruths and half truths, match them with the minute percentages of controlled testing, how else do you explain how it just doesn't match up?
Doesn't matter if you agree with Dr. Phil or not. I use these links as proof of existence of the concept, not acceptance; that is how I am using them.
