That's fair, Carlin, nothing wrong about not liking policy. I seriously doubt that people who called him the anti-christ or a practicing Muslim who was going to sell out the country, posted racial cartoons using his likeness, the birther crap, etc before he was even elected were thinking about policy.
Bush's policies were also considered by many to be subversive to our liberties, which president's weren't? I never saw or heard the hateful statements about him that I hear about Obama.

I think that when there is a Republican in the White House, many conservatives simply assume that policy will reflect those core values and ideologies, and that is likely a miscalculation. IMO, comparing the Bush ideology to Obama's is apples to oranges, but as a rule, I don't blindly trust any professional politician, as I think it has been some time since we have had one whose strings were not so easy to pull. I think the last one was a Democrat from my home state, and look what happened to him.
