Two Moons

by Two Moons on 22 November 2013 - 16:11

Carlin,
philosophy aside, each is different yet the same....not that it matters to any of the victims, they do what they do.
They are neither natural or human but abnormal mistakes in a human shell, born this way, broken.

You take the long way around the bush for reasons known only to yourself.
I see how you connect it to this thread but it's thin, mighty thin, and way way too deep.

Benefits society?

Catch you later.

They are only the same in that they bear the capacity to take another human life.

They are neither natural or human but abnormal mistakes in a human shell, born this way, broken.

What definition of human do we use, and does it never change?  I will speak to one realm only here, the one which has been given, and in that I would offer that there are genetic factors, but also developmental ones, which have been proven to play an even larger role.

I wasn't speaking to the thread, but spoke directly to posted themes within it, though as you say, it does connect, which follows.  People's thought and prayer lives can be a deep subject, perhaps the deepest.  Peeling back the onion is needed to figure out what's really going on, and what's hiding in the shadows.  Yes, benefits society.  If you find it that interesting, look it up.  My advice, it's a waste of time, lol.  I know the stuff because I had to.

I thought he'd never leave. The nerve to justify such disgusting posts with a poorly recollected grudge. I won't converse with any one who posts such crudeness about me, period.

There are benefits to the society with such a population type as a minority, where those certain goals are fixed. This type of causative thinking is the death of people like me. IMHO

Bee - For me, the problem is that the current vector is one in which the philosophy is sold "sight unseen", if you will.  If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.  There are many latent functions of which most are unaware, don't care to know, or believe will never affect them.

by beetree on 22 November 2013 - 17:11

You mean, like actually believing statistics as meaningful? Not sure I am going where you are going....

I don't want to hijack your thread down the road of politics, so I'll try to stay within the philosophical confines of the theme.  The idea of good/evil or moral/immoral was brought to light. As we all know, we have members here who subscribe to both a materialist and supernatural ontologies, though I would venture to say that many don't know where they fall, why, and that they must, like it or not.  Consequently, there are implications to each position that may never occur to us.  You can't have your cake and eat it.  You cannot classify John Hughes as an evil individual if evil doesn't exist in your paradigm, just as it is as much a contradiction to forward a strict Darwinian model, only to conveniently discriminate when it comes to social issues.  The greatest implication of the particular paradigm, may be that at any given time, what's right and wrong is little more than a function of a set of values in relation to the present norm (which is subsequently absolutized, ironically), and is ever changing.

My thread, lol! Thanks for that....Tongue Smile

I would venture to say that many don't know where they fall, why, and that they must, like it or not.

Okay, now I am following a bit closer. Yes, that was what I was wanting to talk about maybe a few pages ago.....

I'll add this:

"...this is a source of shame for the author, whether or not anyone has ever said as much to him.  For, awake or asleep, ignorance about what activities are right or wrong or good or bad cannot, when seen aright, fail to be a matter of reproach, even if the general mass of people approve it." -Plato.
