Avar was a big, dark sable with good head, little long, but a good mover. He had an incredible nose and tracked down over 400 criminals. I put handcuffs on probably more than 100 of those suspects. I remember being with him doing a building search of a school while he located the guy in a dishwasher. This was after my dog had already checked that area. He was also a preferred dog for the various narcotic task force units. He helped seize millions of dollars. I think one year he helped build a new 911 communication facility with his share of seizures. I know he bought many police cars and equipment for his department. Probably one of my favorite police dogs to have been around. Real nice dog.
I will try to remember more information. I called the guy who worked him, but like most K-9 handlers, he didn’t care about a pedigree and only knew him as K-9 Avar.

Avar is buried next to some of the dogs I worked with. I will see if any pictures show his headstone in case it has his date of birth.
Thanks for your help!
