It was probably the maltreatment that caused the arthritis. Jogging is great, even with ppl with arthritis getting moving helps. Too bad . odd she just lays there when you put her out, does she have a playmate. Either way you are doing right to get her moving if she won't on her own

I have 3 other GSD's but she wont play. It's like she doesn't know how or is just really grumpy. We had to remove her pups as soon as they were weaned because she played too rough with them.I have seen her act cute a few times and it's very funny to see, since it is such a rare accurance for her. Thanks for the thumbs up. I think I am doing the right thing also, I can judge by her improvements. My bf and I went rounds about if it would hurt or help. She now looks forward to her morning jogs at the river. She even tries to jet by me at the door for an extra ride in the afternoon, after her nap. LOL Such a hard life, being one of my dogs.

I agree that the picture probably doesn't do her justice - she's pretty angulated behind but then that may be because of the way the picture was taken. But she is pretty... I suspect she's probably backing off in her bitework because she's uncomfortable thru her backand/or hips(dogs that are having problems will manifest it that way- too much pressure back there). What are you doing besides the jogging?

Swimming when we can and hikes. I don't do the PT with her anymore. She seems past that. Don't plan to work or breed her anymore, she is now just here to live out the rest of her life. We do occasional bite play with her. She loves to fetch and tug. Also her new fav thing to do is harass my cat. I just kinda let her be and she has her daily routine. If I stick to that routine, she does rather well. We did take a few days off from running this week because of one of my other dogs. Didn't have time running back and forth to the vet. Thanks everybody for your help and comments. Michelle

Best of luck with her. Sounds like she has a wonderful new set of "parents"!!

Y thank you flygirl. I'm a single mom though. when I say "we", I mean either my 12 yr old daughter or my bf, who comes up on weekends to see his puppy and work my dogs also. She does love her part time "daddy" though. She bonded with him much quicker than with myself. Always handled by a man, thats what the paper trail shows anyway. Thanks again for the kind words.
