I did a little more poking around about this topic and this is what I found. the test for canine pregnancy is "witness relaxin" it is manufactured by the Synbiotic Corp (synbiotic.com). Unfortunately it is sold to licensed vets only. Our vet has been extremely helpful in the past and has offered to buy the kit for us (well, we reimburse them!) it would be stored at their facility for our use and our use only. The test itself is a fairly simple procedure. Perhaps you could work out a similar agreement with your vet? this is the link for the the test kit. http://www.synbiotics.com/cgi-bin/Products.pl?cgifunction=Search&Product%20Code=96-0303

I have used these tests a few times and they appear to be very accurate; however there was one test that had a false negative, I think we done the test a few days to soon. lol "Sold to licensed vets only", as far as I know any person can purchase these test kits. Most are sold for approximately $95.00 USD for 5 test kits. I do not recommend the average person use these tests since a blood sample must be obtained from the bitch.

Ah, so- a blood sample, not a stream of urine, is required for this type of test. That would certainly stand to reason as it could not be easily contaminated and is much more representative of what is happening inside the body. Thanks for the further education on this product, as per the discussion from yesterday I presumed incorrectly that it might be administered in the same way as is a human EPT. At least from all of this it seems that a myth has been buried as far as being able to use a human EPT for a suspected bitch. I heard that several years ago, but never tried it. I never suggested it to anyone, as no one ever asked. Bob appreciates that. Bob-O
