I'm looking at Franck Haymann's pictures on the Schutzhund part and couldn't help but to see lack of FULL grip on most of the dogs that entered. What disturbed me the most was Quenn vom Löher Weg who gained VA6 who seems to be severely lacked and judging by the picture didn't even wanted to be on the sleeve. Don’t get me wrong… I think Quenn is a gorgeous male but why was he lacking so much? Anybody who went to the sieger show please elaborate us of who did the best bite work? Where can I download free bite work video clips from this year’s BSZS?

Hi Brittany, Could you any idea from where i can buy 2006 seiger show DVD's .

Brittany, Bitework is either pass or fail. full grips is not required in sch or any form of bitework. its ideal but doesn't stop a dog from getting titled. If you go to the world championship this yr or any yr you will see top working dogs who don't have full grips as well. Grip problems is a problem with german shepherds around the world.Working and Show alike. Its funny how we put so much of a emphasis on full grips but not on the rest of the sport of sch. 3 phase sport please remember that. Don' t just think its only show dogs that don't bite full. You just need to watch who you are breeding too.

Hey Britt, Karat's Ulk was definatley the best bite work. Yes I agree that most of the bite work really was sad. I was there so seeing it in person was even sadder. It just makes it so much more refreshing to see the good bite work!! Debby

Sumakshi, Bill Leonard of www.estahaus.com films the Siegerhauptzuchtschau in West Germany each year and sells it on a DVD for about $75 US dollars plus $0.6 US Dollars postage ($75.60). I have been purchasing these DVD's each year for the last few years and have been very satisfied with their quality and vusual clarity. I used to buy the videos from Reivision, but a fews years back they sent me a bad copy that wouldn't play and refused to replace it (they lied to me and gave me the runaround for over 6 months, stated there were going to mail me another good copy but refused to send it UPS or Federal Express--in my opinion, these are very disreputable folks that cannot be trusted--I paid $140 E for nothing and thus felt completely ripped off--I recommend you avoid doing any business with these folks). Mr. Leonard stands behing his product and will quickly replace any DVD that won't play right. He has attended the Siegerhauptzuchtschau for the last 39 years.

djc, Judging by the pictures... Karat's Ulk did a very good job with the grip, however it seemed like the handler was screaming at him to let go of the sleeve... Since you were there... Was he having a problem with the outting? A picture is worth a 1000 words, but viewing is 100x ;) Is possible for me to contact you? I would like to talk to you in private regarding to the bite work at BSZS. You have your email blocked.. ceddy, I know that it's either passed of fail, However IMO a dog who’s going for a VA should demonstrate national level schutzhund work. All of this cheat shots and not having the passion for protection work is unacceptable. Any dog that shows poor performance (cheat shots, not outing, running off the field, poor grips, etc) should automatically be disqualified from being able to achieve VA status. IMO I also think that any dog that’s going in for VA should demonstrate a Schutzhund 3 phase WITH scores.

Preston, Thanks for the warning... I've thought about buying videos from Reivision... But something told me NOT too; well the price that they were charging was part of the reason why I decided not to buy. I hope this year Bill Leonard can sell NTSC version DVD's instead of PAL.. My DVD player will not accept PAL, I don't think.

Hi Brittany, Karats Ulk did not have a problem..... just gets carried away and needs a strong command, thats all. Indeed, Karats Ulk made the best Schutzdienst again, for the 4th time in a row at a BSHZS !!¿ I talked to the guy who checked tatoos at the Schutzdienst event, the guy is a workingdog judge, and he said, quote :" The bset Schutzdienst there was, was by Karats Ulk. It makes me rethink about showlines !" Regards Ulli Dresbach

Of the VA group I saw a few. Quenn was fine, a good performance. Orbit needed help on the out lets say. Zamp was weak on the front half but his offspring that I saw were strong. Karat's Yoker was delt a bad hand. He healed fine, exploded to the kelper got a good grip took a stick hit that rang through the stadium, his drive was good, the second stick was heard in the parking lot. He came off the sleeve in such a way as he did not expect to come off as his feet were not positioned to support him as would have been if he had prepared himself to release. He slid across the ground a few feet on his nose before he regained composure enough to stand and face the helper, but, he did not reingage and it was over for him. Tough break for a fine dog. Merlin Osterberger Land had a tough break too. His front half was fine. He was one of the fastest on the courage test and moved to the helper's left at the last opportunity for the helper to react. This set the helper up to catch the dog, but, Merlin quickly changed right which made the helper react to change sides to catch him. There was not time to change, Merlin was thee. The sleeve presentation was not given as the helper was not able to raise the bite bar up, the bite bar was pointing down. There was nothing to bite and he bit what he could which was like trying to bite a door. He managed to work himself to the end of the sleeve where he got a piece of the end as the helper swung around into the judges view. Merlin hung on to what he had through the drive, outed, and guarded fine, but was not given the pronounced.
