Reliya

I'm concerned about my pup's weight. She looks healthy to me, but she's small for her age. Her litter sibling is twenty pounds heavier. In the photos from the side, she wouldn't stop moving, so they're blurry, and I was slightly above her. I tried to be level with her in the sitting photos. An image

She's wet in the top three photos. She decided to spill her water and roll in it.

I don't think she looks too skinny, but I am ecstatic that you somehow found a way to ship this puppy in amidst the struggle you were going through with your vehicle. These are times we have to just thank the Lord above. Not only were you lucky to raise the $1500 for a down payment, but you somehow found a way to ship the puppy from Europe. I love when things just work out right. This story makes me feel glad that the light shines bright and the world is still right!!!

Don't know her age but she looks ok.  Did you weigh her sister thus actually saw her. Some people think heavy is good so the proud owner of the sister may have kept a thumb on the scale Wink Smile

Proper deworming, free exercise, good food, correct amount and she should grow according to her genetics.

You say she is full of it so fair to rule out internal problems

Chaz, I've had this puppy for a few months, but I definitely appreciate your concern for my well-being.

If you would stop being an ass for a moment and go back to re-read those posts, you will see that I said I own two dogs now that I've lost one: a four month old female and a three year old female. I got her before my financial troubles, but I also stated that I have enough money for bills and to feed my dogs and myself, just was looking to raise money for a down payment. I also said I'm willing to sell the older dog in order to get the money necessary.

If you'd like an update, however: I did manage to get a car. I got some money after I separated from the military, but I was concerned whether it would be here in time before my having to return the rental. I said I was willing to pay back donations, and I have repaid the only person who donated. Again, good looking out, Sport.

Western, I figured she looked fine, but I wanted the opinions of others. She's a big ball of energy and has a nice coat, so I know she's not lacking too much, if anything.

We played fetch this morning by the lake until she was too tired to go after the ball, but on the way home, she had enough energy to try to kill my ankles. She actually bit through my boots and knicked my skin. Crazy pup.

Edit to add: I didn't weigh the sister.

Also, Chaz. I clearly said that the replacement puppy wouldn't even be alive until the end of the year (it's March right now), but if I don't have enough money to support another dog, I'd just wait until I could afford it.

Looks like my female black working line GSD, Sasha as a puppy. GSDs that take after the old lines aka working bloodlines, are skinny looking compared to the big boned modern show GSDs. Easiest way to judge if a dog is under weight is to feel it's body. If you feel bones strongly then the dog is underweight. And yes I'm aware some breeds it's normal to feel bones, but that is also wrong. Greyhounds and other sight hounds, are almost always starved to look "sleek", they should not actually have their bones showing. I had a male rescue GSD that was underweight and I could feel all his spine bones and ribs. His former owners were very messed up. This dog was terrified to eat food, so we had quite a time getting weight on him. We ended up having to feed him our leftovers as that was the only thing he was willing to eat. So his former owners must have barely fed him their table scraps and that was it. It took a year but we finally got him to eat dog food. :(

She doesn't look bad, per se, but you might try a round of Kochi-Free and see if that doesn't help put a little substance on her. Enzymes and probiotics would be the only supplements I would give a puppy. If she's not absorbing optimally, she'd feel ok but have that "NQR" look to her.

NQR? I'll take some more photos in a moment from above so you can see her waist on an empty stomach.
