I know there are alot of variables but...how much (in general) should a 4.5 month old bitch pup from all Checz. working lines weight? How do they grow as far as what to expect at 6 months, 10 months?

What it should weigh at each stage is guess work. You have to look at parents, structure so forth. There is no set weight at each phase. The biggest thing with puppies is they should not be these role pole things you see people with. A fat overweight puppy puts too much stress on the developing frame and hips. This can as an enviromental factor cause improper hip developement. The puppy should look healthy but not fat. My 4 month old female, and if she stays true to breeding will be an upper middle size female weighed 28 pounds. She is not fat, get proper exercise and looks healthy.

At 4 months most large breed puppies have reached about 1/2 of their adult weight. I usually add 7 or 8 pounds for a male and most times can come pretty close to the final weight. I'd expect ED's 28 pound 4 month old bitch to mature out at right around 55 to 60 pounds if she is currently in correct weight.

Hey I will let you know if you got her weight right when she get older. Guess if your right I'll owe you a beer and have to start using your formula in the future.

Just don't let her get fat or skinny or the deal is off!!!

I checked my pups records..at 4 months he weighed 27 lobs....if I double that to get his adult weight I get 54lbs..plus 8 for a male as stated above I get 62lbs..well he is not quite a year and is alread 70+ lbs... not sure if it varies by dog but that formula I have heard before and doesn't work for my 2..

It's just a simple formula for most large breed dogs. There are bound to be exceptions, I would think some dogs will get larger than the estimate would indicate. It will vary from breed to breed and from line to line. Might not even be applicable to most GSD's and the only way to learn that would be from the sort of inmformation you have provided. Maybe this breed would h ave to be weighed at say 5 months and the formula applied then. I don't know, just guessing. It has been a very accurate formula for a working breed I own. Since I want an 85 pound adult male, I would be very hesitant to keep a 4 month old puppy weighing much under 38 pounds. A 27 pound 4 month old male puppy of this breed would probably not mature out at more than 65 pounds which would be way too small, 20 pounds under the ideal weight. It's like everything else where dogs are concerned, nothing is ever 100% darn it!!
