Could someone please tell me the rule of registration for litters. Does the litter have to be born in the country of registration? If a litter is born in Italy do the puppies have to be registered as Italian? Or can you ship the pups to another country and register them as born there? How do the individual registeries feel about fraudulent reporting of births? I am hearing rumblings of breeders openly abusing the system and wonder how they can get away with it. If everyone is talking why aren't those in charge listening? PS I am glad to see the board up again after a long downtime.

<> Yes <> Yes, with the Ente Nazionale Della Cinofilia Italiana <> No, they can be registered as a foreign registered dog but has to have paperwork from country of birth. <> Depends on how much money they need for registrations. <>> Big breeders with big $$ pretty much get away with what they want. Those in charge need to have their testicles given back.

If that is happening with AKC registration and you can prove it and are willing to report it to AKC, that "breeder" will lose his/her priviledges. Again I have to ask the same old weary question, why do so many of you keep importing dogs when you are very aware of all the scams going on? Are there no good dogs being produced in North America (or in your native country)? The simple answer is, they cheat because they can and we keep going back for more and more. Does anyone else see a downside to this? Not saying that there are no honest breeders in Europe or Asia, so don't anyone give this a spin in that direction. I'm trying to understand why more don't support the breeding programs of their own countries thus supporting the future of the breed domestically? Do you guys plan to import GSD's into infinity? Wouldn't you rather breed your own?

Blitzen I think people , especially newbies keep importing because of the novelty of "Import". 15 - 20 yrs ago ...yes we would have to import to get the top dogs out here. But now we have a lot of good dogs in North American, Both working and Show, that we don't need to rely on the European breeders like we did years past. And when we do go to the European breeders there are several that are very reputable. But still so many people buy the dogs with doing their research and then end up getting screwed and then have the nerve to cry about it. Uwe

They must have a lot more spare money than I do. If I were going to lay down thousands dollars to buy a dog sight-unseen, I would have to see some pretty convincing evidence of that dog's quality and the ethics of the breeder. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Seems to me that some get taken time after time just to be able to say they own a dog out of this or that sire from this or that breeder. I guess some European breeders and brokers must really love our naiviete (or should I say gullibility) LOL. Anyway........ anybody wanna buy a bridge?

those breeders can smell a "newbie" a mile away...even if you don't tell them, they know just by talking to you...so they know they can take advantage...it is sad..you'd think they would want to get a good name for themselves not just the money..

IMO, the best thing anyone can do for the breed is to support breeders in their own countries when buying dogs or looking for stud service. Obviously it may not always be possible, but it might behoove all to first try to support others living on the same continent. Is there a reason why the SV will not permit the use of frozen or chilled semen? It would be a lot easier to have a container shipped across the ocean than it is to ship an in season bitch. Is the intent to make it just as difficult and as expensive as possible or is there another reason for that?
