This particular scam is as old as the hills by now. Most of us have received numerous offers of "cashier's checks". I even had a couple of guys stop by my home from Granada, wanting to buy 25 dogs for their homeland security force. I only had one pup for sale, but they said they would give me a cashiers check for $10,000. in payment for 5 pups in advance and I could give them $4,000 back (since their organization only issued cashiers checks in $10,000 increments for their purchases). I told them my bank in town stayed open until 7:00 pm, so they could feel free to go cash their cashiers check and get their own balance back! They left to go to town "to the bank" and of course I never saw or heard from them again! LOL This is a VERY small town, and I guess they figured it was easy pickings. They had already bilked a goat farmer not far away for $20,000 worth of "cashiers checks"!! "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn't."

I too know of people in other breeds who have been on the receiving end of these scam posts. It seems all one needs to have is a website.

There is also an individual that is calling using the service that deaf people use to make phone calls. i forget the exact name but it is a relay servicethe service is legitimate but the caller is not. i guess they are looking for new ways to make it look more legitimate. The operator called back after i had spoken to this person and told me it was a scam and that they had been on the phone for hours calling other breeders.

This is how one person in the horse industry handled the scammers. Very creative if you have time to deal with them. http://www.bustedupcowgirl.com/scampage.html
