I don't know if this would work the same on dogs as it does the horses, but we use flax seed oil to improve a horse's color. It will darken it up and make it look richer.

hello, when you say "use" do you mean apply it on the coat or use it like a vitamin supplement? tnx

I cant say that pigment is improved with Flex seed oil. However, I am pretty sure that quality of the coat is improved considerably. I usually use it with raw eggs and dog food and the combination works in a week or so. Of course when the coat becomes lush, the pigments looks great. I would still say that dog has to have a dark coat in order to look greater.

Use caution with over use of cod liver oil as it can cause damage to the liver by trying to process the excess Vitamin A.Fish body oils are good source of omega-3 fatty acids.I don't believe there is any magic pill that improves pigmentation. However, good nutrition maintains the nature given coat well and the dog will look good.Best wishes.

SportDog is correct with the Vitamin A. Too much and it can kill. The military, in it's survival schools teaches to AVOID bearded seal's liver in a survival situation, because of the high content of vitamin A. One meal of it and you are a dead man. Stephen

Sea Kelp is also known to darken the pigment of a dogs coat. Just put in dogs food. only use in the winter months, can't remember why though.
