It's a sad thing to admit, but I would neither purchase from this site nor sell from this site. Someone wanting to purchase here should be *extremely* cautious. Too many have reported to have been duped. Someone honest hoping to sell here??? Not me. It's too easy to have a novice buyer make false or misleading accusations leading to one's reputation suffering needlessly. I've seen both problems here...no fun... count me out! There are other ways to find reputable breeders. Contacts with each breed club, the SV, USA, WDA, etc can lead to reputable, honest people. If someone hears you are refered through a club they are less likely to make an incorrect statement in any fashion. Searching for the cheap dog, one can't find working through breed clubs??? Save your money, go to the pound. Sorry if this posts offends some. It's meant as a helpful informational tool for people of good common sense. Warm Regards, Sue-Ann Connary PO Box 812 Grantham, NH 03753 USA

Hello Sue-Ann you posted: "Searching for the cheap dog, one can't find working through breed clubs??? Save your money, go to the pound." Most people who are members of the breed clubs do not advertise thru the breed club. Why, because low response if any from the breed club site. Most of the people who post here are members of the breed clubs, just ask if you do not believe so. This web site is a great tool for uniting buyers and sellers. The small hobbyist who may have an infrequent litter, only owns a dog or two. Makes a post here, sells their pups, in a week. What is wrong with that? The breed club sites you get an email every third month, a phone call once a month at 1 AM. How should the person who bought a puppy and joined the local schutzhund club and can not dedicate themselves to properly training and titling a dog sell the one dog on the breed club site? Should they euthanasia the dog or post it here so that someone with interests could acquire the dog within days? The seller and buyer are happy on both ends of the deal? The dog gets a good home. This has been a nice place to meet all kinds of nice people, with all kinds of dogs. Occasionally my friends and I purchase a puppy from here or procure other services listed here. (Stud service, show handler etc) Yes there are deals that go bad time to time. Name a business that never had a complaint? Retail stores, car sales, fast food all get complaints to their businesses. If you sell or breed dogs, someone may complain about you. Warranted or not, it sometimes happens to the nicest and best meaning people there are. There are some scum bags out there, but they get exposed quickly, especially if posting pups or dogs on here. That should be a big plus for posting here, We have a great tool here. People get to meet. Some sell others buy. Pedigrees and Pictures are posted. So many great things going on. The bad things that take place are definitely on a minor scale. The bad things if any are small in comparison to all the good that happens here. Martin

I think this site has had too many bad deals. If one is a novice in the breed, go to the dog clubs first. My 1st contact with German breeders was in the mid 90's and with the SV as the vector. They recommended several very good breeders, but their dogs were not cheap. This is my opinion and advice to novice people. It worked for me. GSDCA, USA, SV and local dog clubs all are excellent resources to explore to learn about the breed and to help find good breeders. Some clubs have Codes of Ethics as well as unannounced kennel inspections. Veterinarians are good sources of information as well. Talk with a breeder's vet before purchasing a dog or pup. The vets know about individual health of parents, hip scores, as well as the quality of care the breeder provides older retired breeding dogs...all good information to learn prior to purchase. If one has only a little money to spend, then one shouldn't look for a specific breed exept through rescue or the pounds...again my opinion. If you are a breeder and you are happy with making advertisements here and it has been a positive experience for you, I am happy. I would just choose not to do things that way myself. Warm Regards to everyone :-)), Sue-Ann

One bad deal is one too many. If a novice person comes to this site seeking information, relying on this site's marketing is a bad idea. I would recommend to any person searching for any type of dog, to start with the breed club. A signer of a code of ethics, and someone a member of a breed club is more likely to keep the entire transaction above board. Going through a breed club is also a clear means of resolving any dispute that might arrise. It's a little insurance to the buyer sort of speak. It means the person has been doing business long enough to have met some basic requirements in joining a club. Also means there is a valid physical address for the person. Is anyone following this thread that agrees with me??? Is it possible advertisers here are willing to post club affiliations in their ad to further identify themselves as good folks to deal with? Also, so much of the advice given for required documents is fabulous, but any of those documents could easily be falsified by someone out for blood. Best, Sue-Ann
