I have a six+ years old male who has stopped producing for the past one year. All the females (9) mated to him in the past 8months have not conceived. This male has produced before. I badly need his bloodline in my kennel. Can someone suggest a remedy. Please note that I am writing from India and remedies accessible from India would help People who had similar experiences with their own dogs, please share.

Check the semen with the vet. Try checking for brucellosis and other infections. If your boy has any swelling in his prostate, Proscar (a human drug) reduces prostate size in dogs. He may also need antibiotics also. Good luck! Best, Sue-Ann

If your male is determined to be healthy, but with a low sperm count and low testosterone level. Put him on a cycle of a stack of Tribulus Extract and Tongkat Ali. Some products contain both such as this. http://www.musclemass.com/prohormone.html

I imoorted a 3 year old SCH3 for breeding purposes. His first three breedings were sucessful. The next three breedings were unsucessfull. All the bitches came in about the same time and I didn't realize they had not conceived until it was too late. I took him the the vet and they checked the prostate, did a bruccellosis test and checked for infection and there was none. The next time a dog came in heat I carried him back to the vet to do a sperm count. The vet said he could find no live sperm. I carried him to a vet that does a lot of reproduction work and he kept him two weeks and did a lot of diagnostic testing but with no results. At about day 10, did a sperm test and he had active sperm but his count was low. At day 14 he did another sperm test and it was normal. That was 6 years ago and he hasn't missed a breeding since. The vet's response,"I'd rather be lucky than good anytime." Good luck, hope you find a lucky vet.

If all tests come back normal, I believe that vitamin E can help as well.

One last word of advice. If your boy does get back to normal with sperm count and libido, consider freezing some semen right away. If his bloodlines are extremely valuable to your kennel, take no chances the condition may come back. I had my own recent experience with this. We got one last litter from an old man and froze a little semen prior to neutering an extremely valuable producer. Good luck! Let us know how he does :-) Best, Sue-Ann

Hi, the vitamin E should ideally be 1000 units per day and for at least a month to have its full effect I think. Good luck!
