I purchased a female puppy three years ego supposedly from working blood lines in Canada, Ontario. A year later I finally received a pedigree, there were no Schh titles just ckc/akc show titles. I also realized that the kennel she is from has a bad reputation. Today, I have 3 year old female that I love but has far from a working dog. However, I put a BH title on her in Europe when she was a year old and she also has OVC clear. Could someone tell me if it is possible to breed this female to a better quality dog and if yes what the requirements are? I would really like to breed her at least ones in her life to a quality European dog. Thank you for suggestion.

From what you say it doesn't sound like she is worthy of breeding, and I would not reccomend it. However if you must, screen for hip/health problems and find an SV stud that is also CKC registered. If CKC is like AKC then no SchH titles will be on the pedigree only titles of that registry. There is no way to register your CKC female with the SV, its not possible. So you will have a CKC litter and none of the Sire's SchH title's/German show ratings will show up on the pedigree unless they are CKC titles. Your best bet is to find a top Canadian kennel its most likely you will find a Stud who is dual registered with CKC and SV.

Thank you for your answer and for the information. I put her picture in the article section with her CKC registered name so you can make your own judgment.

I always feel bad when breeders take advantage. I am very glad to hear you love her anyway. Have you thought of putting obidence titles on her. It can be alot of fun for both of you.

Czinka, This may not be the best venue to seek opinions on breeding a bitch that has AKC bloodlines.

I agree with Blitzen, you have opened yourself up for alot of critisizm. It appears that you should spend some time studying the breed before you go and have puppies, just to have puppies. With all do respect you seem like a novice, no offense we've all been there. Another important note I would like to make is that just because there are no SchH titles in your female's CKC pedigree doesn't mean they are not there. Like I said a CKC pedigree will only have CKC titles. An SV pedigree will only have SV titles. If in your CKC pedigree it indicates that the Sire, Grandsire etc. is imported from Germany or another european country it is likely that he/she or his/her parents have SchH or other European working titles, but they wont show up on your CKC pedigree.

Is it really such a bad thing for her to be "just your pet?" Like others said, do your research before you go diving into breeding her, or any dog, just for the sake of breeding. Or breeding her "just once."

Yes I can be described as a novice especially on this continent. I came here a few years ego to study but not the SV/CKC/AKC registration requirements. In Europe my hobby was training Schutzhund and I wonted to continue this hobby here. Since I am now familiar with much of the breading requirements I seeked help on this reputable website. I hope in doing so I did not commit a crime. Also I would like to thank very much those who provided me the valuable information and advices.

Czinca, you did nothing wrong when you asked about your bitch. It's just that most on this board do not encourage the breeding of untitled dogs, especially those from American lines. When I first read this board I thought it was being harsh and mean to discourage the breeding of Am lines and untitled dogs and found that some of that advice came from those who did it behind closed doors and felt it was hypocritical of them to say it. Now I realize that, in most cases, it is good advice as in this country we do not need anymore GSD pets. Many are killed every day for lack of homes with people who have the capacity to understand the drives and needs of this breed. The rescues are overflowing with dogs of all breeds, it's just heartbreaking. I looked at the photo of you girl and she is very lovely, I can understand why you would want a litter from her. Best with her in the future whatever you should decide.

Hi Blitzen, Thats the nicest words I have read on this forum ever before. I once posted a question & was literally blasted with some criticism, although there were some ppl here who did well in providing a good advise to me. Keeping this forum away frm any criticism & help educate ppl more & more abt this beautiful breed should be the motive of every one here.
