Thoughts on the way this males reaction. 19 months.love the bark on this dog. Trained pp. Frist time on the front of the house now forget that part first time on front of the house as I want the video looked at as what it is.  I asked the farmer to walk up the lane on the side of the house from the dog. Then to come across the garden as you will see from the change in direction of the dog. I think the reaction is pretty good not because but imo for a good dog  he is mine not somebody else. This is videod on a gopro left in the garden so no help whatsoever for the dog

Sorry about the edits

What happened towards the end did the farmer leave, the reason i ask this is because the dog broke his bark and hold and looked back why did he do that was there another person aproaching.

Plus how was the farmer acting or what was he holding for the dog to see him as a potential theat.

The video cant give us a clear understanding. Any dog can bark but would they maintain that deep aggressive bark when the percieved threat gets extremely close to them. Overall there is not enough for me personally to make a judgment he barks nice but i dont know if he would continue to do so if the farmer got closer

The farmer left the garden and the bark broke . The video shows the body language of the dog settling as the farmer left he has a good switch. the dog picked up on the farmer straight away but if you listened to the foot steps the dog only got aggressive when the farmer got close to him so the video shows no fear of the man . If you listened to the video u can hear the farmers footsteps. He wad carrying nothing that was the test fot the dog up pick up the man.

bladeedge, the dog is on a chain, this is scenario of junkyarddog and doesnot really say to much, old breeders used this scenario to make dogs stronger, telling visitors to watch out for the dog on the chain, so everybody stayed away, making the dog stronger in his belief that he chased them away

Blade, I also cannot tell you very much about your dog's reaction since I cannot see the "threat" nor do I know if you actually wanted your dog to respond this way?
Being on "home turf", the response you got is appropriate, since the dog is comfortable there, how would he react if he were someplace else, strange, with no home turf incentive, we dont know.
Me, personally, I would want to see my dog become attentive, keep being attentive to a stranger approaching, but, measure his response accordingly and I am speaking of my dog back tied alone in a strange place, not at home.

Very interesting nobody asked for pedigree to see what makes this dog thick .to see what pedigree strength is brought to the table. As I said he is fully trained in pp switch on and switch off nobody even took note of that. To make a video that hired would like to see you would need a lot more cameras working together I don't have. Junk yard dog I think not. A dog that will cover all groups of protection he will be and the pedigree would have shown that. I definitely not only interested in a dog that only works on the end of a lead I want the whole package. Ther is so much more to this dog but its nice to see how people make their mind up without asking for facts.

Based upon what you said, I was impressed with the dog’s reaction. You won’t get much better of an explosive response than that. I would definitely have steered cleared and kept on walking. Fair play

From your replies Bladeedge, your post is a typical "bait and hook". You came here, posted a video and asked, "Thoughts on the way this males reaction". Then when people do, it seems that you're not satisfied with their opinion.

With that said, there is simply not enough to give a true opinion about how your dog reacted. But if we're going to take your word for it, he appeared strong in his bark. There also seems to be some civil drive too. His pedigree doesn't HAVE to mean anything. Shit, my Police dog came from two parents that were not certified or titled. Mother had one bad hip from an injury. Father, I don't think was even x-ray'd, yet my dog was OFA excellent. He was also an outstanding police dog.

Don't ask an open opinion, then not be satisfied with the outcome. You obviously already think and know what your dog is...

Bladeedge, I am not the pedigree type person, I am the "dog in front of me" type. I gave you my opinion on what I thought, maybe its not what you were looking for, but, it was an open question with no parameters.

Dugan I am definitely not here to bait. Opinion I appreciate. Its all about learning. A video can only show so much ther has to be a certain amount of trust in what is being said about the video and only jude by that. You can't keep asking about what is not ther it the reaction of the dog. So I actually don't mind what people have to say as I know my dog.

Hired I'm not a major pedigree person either but it does help to get a picture of what is behind the dog. Especially in a video. You said I like to see what is in front of me but all you did is judge on what can't be seen in the video.

Emoryg you see the video as it was and spoke on what was shown. That's what this was about not guessing what is going on behind the sence. Because as long as that is happening its a waist of time sharing. Imo.
