When my son decided he wanted a puppy; one to show, train in obiedence and lay on the bed and read with him the Cardigan came to mind immediately. My parents raised them when we were living in San Diego, California in the mid and late 70’s. We did our research and Samuel decided that the wash and wear, easy going Cardigan was his choice, and King Thorin became his dog. Their relationship has grown in to the classic story of a dog and his boy. One that has been told for centuries and will be told for centuries more. Thorin watches him leave for school every morning and is waiting by the door or outside when he walks home. They lay in bed and read, take long walks through the fields and cozy up to watch television. Thorin has to be in the same room as Samuel and sleeps on the spare pillow on the bed. He mopes when Samuel is away on a trip and behaves like a puppy when they play. Cardigans were my special dog growing up and the idealization of a 8 year old girl and her dog is born again in the story of a dog and his boy. Thus the beginning of the Cardis of Lanakila.
