Sorry, can't! That so looks like any mother would drag her kid so freakin' far away from that pool! Lol! Just can't describe it any other way! jackie harris

i am assuming Jen was joking with retrieve drive as an explanation??

by Hundmutter on 05 March 2014 - 08:03
Nah, I think Jen was trying to do exactly as you asked.
How about "Highly intelligent canine is in right place to realise
puppy cannot get over side of pool, so assists by grabbing it" ?
Perhaps the dog had been helped out of a pool or tank (eg by a
human gripping its neck), in its own puppyhood, and memory was
triggered ? Closest I can get, without humanising too much !

Pack instinct, end of.

Of course I was joking. I was also making fun of the ridiculous words people put in front of the word "drive" and act like they've just uncovered some new canine behavior phenomenon. Dual purpose smart-ass comment, I guess.

Did any of you see the story of the hero Pig?

No joking about retrieve drive and learned behavior - I may be wrong, but this video looks like posed, the puppy thrown into the pool, the adult dog knowing what to do...
If the adult dog hadn´t felt the necessity to shake the water out of it´s coat, it would retrieve the pup all the way to its owner like a dumbell

I agree w/Susie. Who just stands there and videotapes while their puppy is clearly struggling to get out of the pool???? I couldn't take it that seriously, for that reason, though I bet the adult did do it once without prompting which is how they knew to videotape. JMO.
