We know the great dogs and we know what we want in a German shepherd dog so why are there so few great pedigrees? It would be nice to see planned breedings with all the greats that are still alive of course. We would get what we want in the breed and highlight the junk dogs. Our prices would be more fair because it would be more common to see and have these type dogs.  Everybody can't afford $1,800 to $3,500 for  pups for whatever purpose, Schutzhund, service dogs, or family dogs. I want one more great female puppy to reach my goals. I love training these dogs because it's almost natural.

I'm raising a wonderful female who goes back to Yasko, Timo,  Ulk, linebred on Jello, Karly, Kimon...I think her pedigree is just awesome.  There are still plenty of breeders who think out their breedings carefully, if it means you have to save up your nickels and dimes for a while, well, so be it. You will also find many good breeders willing to work with someone on price who is a working or show home.

Unfortunately great planned pedigrees are very hard to do.

WOW,

This is way too deep a question for me.

But money come's to mind right off the bat !!   And rivalry, competetion, greed, and erogance.

I disagree with your whole mindset there oaklawn, the great dog's, the breeding practice's, the money.

Think outside the box a little and this will all come to you.

I am crushed you don't think my breedings are planned for greatness. If humans spent a fraction of the time planning their own breedings as I do on each litter I produce, we wouldn't need all those prisons.

An old horse traider once said that is costs the same to feed an ugly horse as a beautiful one, so save your money and buy a horse that you will be proud of for a very long time.

This is true of most everything - including dogs.

Make a budget, reduce your unnecessary spending and you'll have the mondy soon enough. While your saving money, learn as much as you. When you finally have the money, you will know enough to buy a good one.

Nothing really good in life is cheap.

I would say our dogs' love is free and a great thing indeed, too bad our dogs are so damn expensive.

It must be a poor person who wrote that .... or an empathetic one...  but not a realistic one
