Okay, I'll confess right up front.I just wanted to brag some more about Bella and figured I'd give everyone else a chance  to brag about their puppies, too. Plus, it might be interesting for comparison purposes.

I had Bella at the vet yesterday (her skin is finally all cleared up now) and she weighed in at 72.3 lbs. (She was 7 months on November 28) She has an off the charts food drive and has been gaining a steady 10 lbs per month since I got her in late June. Not sure if her food drive has anything to do with her weight gain, but hopefully I don't overfeed her. (My logo has her current picture.) Someday I should take a video of her eating. She dives straight to the bottom of the bowl and inhales her way to the top. My male, on the other hand, starts at the top of the bowl and nibbles his way to the bottom. I don't think Bella's weight is exceptional for her age, but probably above normal? How do the other pups out there compare?

Not trying to rain on your parade but to me weight is not the issue but health is. As long as the dog looks good and can see a waist line then that is all I care about. and how your female inhales her food should be a concern  for bloat.

I hear it all the time my male weighs 120 pounds, NO my male weights 135  no my dump truck is bigger then yours  he weighs 145. Which is all over sized for the shepherds. Give me a good 80-90 pound shepherd and I am happy (that is full grown 2-3 yrs)

So my question to you is your dog able to work? ie herding, therapy? SchH? Obedience or tracking? Got any pictures or videos?  protect the home and family? again pictures of the kids with the dog? Those are bragging rights in my book. Not weight

Again not trying to be rude just voicing my opinion.

Where's my umbrella? You just ruined my birthday. But that's okay I'll just take my blue squeaky ball and leave.

Bella, is quite nice, and I have to admitt I have a passion for blk dogs, but all is right in that she is able to do what job you got her for. Have to admit she would be great at just being with you. Females are not know for great weight, and to high means fat, so dont try to strive for to much weight, Best of luck with her ,and would love to see more photos as she grows to 2, as the final result is all that counts. Triodegirl, I cant see the small picture well, out of curiosity how did the coat turn out on your girl? Is she plush or did she turn out as a standard coat? As for weight, my "puppy" Kes is now a year and a half old and last time I had her weighed at her annual check up she was at 73 pounds I think. (may be off on that, think my memory left with my eye sight)

My pup is 5 months old and I checked her weight 2 weeks ago, she weighted in at 42 pounds, and to be honest I wasn't expecting that much, I keep her on a lean side and you can def feel ribs, she looks fine in motion but when breeding hard after runing a bit you can see her ribs, in pups I always try to keep the waight to a minimum, I was hopping for 37 pounds but since she still looking lean I am happy. High weight is more of an issue than a dog on a low side :) at least by my standards.

BTW if my dog would wight in at 72lb at 8 months I would be to happy about it. Too much weight at early age by my standards.

I have no intention of starving Bella until her ribs show.
