wuzzup,

Long STOCK coats are going to be accepted back into the breed books, NOT long coats. There is a difference.

There is a breed standard for a reason, like it or not. It was put in place long before you or I became involved with Shepherds. If you don't agree with the standard, pick a new breed. Blues are a fault according to the German Shepherd standard. You seem to be promoting going against the GSD standard in all your posts where you go on about overlooking such obvious faults. I understand color does not make the dog, but the standard was put in place for a reason. I have no problem with people training and titling blues, but breeding them is another story. Anyone willing to breed a dog with such an obvious fault makes me wonder what else they are willing to overlook.

These very nice dogs you mention being passed over because of their coats are most likely being passed over because they do not conform to the standard. Care to throw out some names of these dogs? Responsible breeders generally try to adhere to the standard of their particular breed as much as they can. With our breed, that also includes the coat.

There's only one reason these people breed specifically for these "rare" colours and we all know that reason is money!

If the relevant KC would refuse to register the puppies, it would be a help...but again, we have... money!  The KC here in the UK is driven by money and they will register ANY colour... with a cheque!

ONE of the MAIN reasons i stopped breeding,Missbeeb. The KC here must have a file of my letters of complaint, never once did i get a reply.  liz

I hope something positive came out of this KC / BC meeting, but I fear that our KC will continue to do bugger all unless forced to.  What do we do?  Hopefully, there will be some news in the next BC magazine.

I was quite impressed with my MP, he made an effort and kept his word, but the KC gave him their usual BS and he believed them... why wouldn't he?  Maybe that's the way to go though... pester our MPs to pester the KC?  At least he got replies... I guess they can't ignore an MP so easily!

We ALL try to adhere to the standard when choosing and breeding our German Shepherds. The FACT of the matter is, THOSE THAT DO NOT CONFORM TO THE STANDARD, COME FROM THOSE THAT DO!

Many BREEDERS will not admit they get "off colored dogs, or a coated dog," Does that mean we are irresponsible in our breeding program, NOT HARDLY! And, Alex, out of all fairness to my sister, wuzzup, ALL her posts are not about going against the breed standard. She is actually QUITE A STICKLER about keeping IN THE STANDARD!

My boy T-Bone is 32 inches at the shoulder, and weighs 140 lbs. His mother is a 70lb female, and father is a 85lb. male. both STANDARD COAT.His sister is a solid black, 65lb. female, STANDARD COAT.  VA Eros von der Malvenburg is his grandfather.(my sisters dogs). he is also loaded with Weinerau/Arminius lines. (Both Quanto's) Did WE PLACE AN ORDER FOR HIM? I think not! Is he any less a German Shepherd, ! Hell NO!, This dog is more dog than most could handle. I only wish I knew more about Sch., when he first came along. Believe me, HIS SIZE does not interfere with his agility ONE BIT, nor does his coat! Has he ever sired a litter? NO, he has not, even though just about every Shepherd enthusiast (yes, your average Joe), that comes to my house WANTS ONE OF THEM!

My boy Blue, V Flex vom Blauen Modeneser, Pirol Arminius, etc., etc, Did we order him? No.Am I sorry I have him? Defiately NOT. Both Great Dogs with Great Pedigrees
