Ok, I am out to search for a Schutzhund trainer here in the US who trains & titles dogs (board & train) and with so many stories out there I am getting peranoid about getting scammed. Can anyone provide me with trainers they have had good success with? Also if you know someone who has less than ideal training methods or who is known to scam, please PM me.
Thanks!

I will be taking dogs for training to title next year when I have a bigger facility.
Dean Calderon takes dogs now. I would trust (and HAVE trusted) him with any dog of mine. He's not cheap, but he's good!

That's ok, no rush. The dog I am considering "sending out" is only 10 months right now so I have not even xrayed her and wouldn't consider sending her out for quite some time. Considering she lives in a home with only a female handler, a female trainer WOULD probably be a better idea. I hadn't thought of that.
At what age do most trainers want the dogs?

For schutzhund you should train your own dog unless you dont have any club. That's the beauty of it.

As with anyone....
Couple of things to look for in a trainer that will be titling a dog for you:
A written contract. Not just an email or verbal agreement
A contract that stipulates
- What will be done and within what timeframe. This is needed so that the trainer does not constantly extend the timeframe and gets to charge more money and hold the dog “hostage”
- Timing of when the trainer will get the dog. Does this work with the trials that are available?
- Costs of titling and due dates – needed if the trainer charges by the month.
- Extraneous costs (vet, food, traveling, charges, etc) – ask for receipts.
- Accountability for the health and welfare of the dog.
- Ask the trainer to provide written recaps and videos of what the dog is doing each month. A good and ethical trainer will not have an issue with this.
- Ask the trainer if they are legally able to house the dog.
- Video tape the trial at which the dog is titled at.
- If the dog is not titled, what is the recourse? Is the trainer just stringing you along?????????

I have left my dog with him. He is great . You will not have anyone problems dealing with him. Him and his wife are super poeple to deal with.

Try John Rodriguez, he is very good and has a nice set up, very clean, not crowded and he actually trains the dog. He has a good helper too! I used him a few times with much success! His site is do-behave.com
