I REALLY like Dave Kroyer.
I have seen him work wonders.

I noticed that a lot, if not most, of the names on this list are people that haven’t trained a dog from a puppy since the days of disco and bell bottoms. Do you think that may affect ones ability to teach others how to train a puppy?

Good point Chris I won't comment on anyones training ability BUT will be sure to pack my IPOD
Sorry

I am biased because I work with him, but in my opinion Charlie Meszaros is the best one on one trainer in the United States.
Hands down, based on a list of accomplishments there is no competitor in the U.S that can compare with his record- 13X WUSV in the last 15 years - 6 times national champion.
It also says something about the man that he doesnt go through dogs left and right.. The man has competed with 4 dogs in the last 15 years. Some "top competitors" go through 4 dogs in a year or two.
The main thing that I love about working with Charlie is that his training method is good for the dog. There are so many trainers who are frying thier dogs out. Charlie's method of training simply brings out the best in the dog and the dog is happy doing the work- as it should be!
It does take more than a list of accomplishments to make a good trainer and coach, but the man has what it takes and the proof is in the pudding.

Gary Hanrahan
Achievements (4 years old and does not include recent trials, etc)

Notice it includes many he helped make many WUSA, etc. teams. Not only at the top himself but also at helping others

For my money the best is definately Ismael "The Fox " de Vos!
I'm pretty sure he's never given a seminar in the US yet, but someone should definately take a punt and take him over!!Check out his cv at www.ismaeldevos.be
He got me into clicker training and I've never looked back.....so far in the last 3 years he's guided me to 5 world championships (3 x FCI & 2 x WUSV) and of those championships me and my dog Asko van het Berghuis were top British team 3 times!! We also hold the record for top British protection score at world level and were the 1st Brits to make 99 in tracking at world level (there's only 1 other to have achieved this!) I owe an awful lot to the teachings of "The Fox"!
