If you are just starting to learn about schutzhund, you don't need the greatest trainer in the world. You need someone that is a good TEACHER! It won't matter one bit if the guy you train with has won everything in the world if he can't teach you how to win. And the truth of the matter is that many of the best dog trainers are the worst teachers.

I think your best bet is to forget about who is a big winner and go to the people that taught them how to train.

HIstorically, IMO- Helmut Raiser. There's a reason I have been to 3 of his seminars, the last one over 1,000 miles away.

I dunno how to tell, but I would say A'Tims Trainer. Who ever that is. That's a whole lotta dog I think, very impressive.

I'll have to cancel 2009 at the Arabian Shows, so I think I'll pick up with a dog.. I was thinking going to that K9 Solutions Center sometime next year. They have package deals for training courses .. sounds kinda interesting. I'd want to bring my own dog though. :o)~

Anyone go there ?

Bernhard Flinks and Debbie Zappia are both excellent.  They have a great way of explaining concepts and are very patient with new handlers.

AHHHHH! Eichenluft how could I forget MR. FRITZ Biehler! DEIFINITELY!  (a mentor tp T.Floyd)

Are we talking about training puppy on up or competitors that have bought titled dogs?

by Talia on 03 December 2008 - 01:12

I dunno bqstout, but when I hear "the best Schutzhund trainer" to me that is someone who has done it all, and not just with ONE dog or ONE person. To me the best is someone who has consistantly proven thier talents all around (More than ONCE) . Every which way. Puppies to adults, clients, h.o.t dogs multiple, Wusv multiple times, handled/owned trained universal Sieger/Siegerin....multiple times. To me that all around person is T. Floyd. Ofcorse as Eichenluft pointed out Mr. Fritz Biehler! There are a few trainers that I respect and would put in that great category as well, Dean Calderon, Ivan, Dr. Helmut Riser (sp?)

If someone says thier GREAT, prove it. As for someone searching for the best, it really isnt that hard to look up and PROVE someones credentials!

There is one who has won double digit  national championships and has been on 15 WUSA world teams for the U.S. and helped train numerous other champions and WUSA team members. I would say that makes him number one in U.S.
