Hundmutter

This rescue has done some really good work, see the thred on
Danno, and it has some real 'characters' in at the moment.
Would be great if we could keep them in mind, and help them
in any way possible.

Thanks for the nudge Hexe.  I don't have money to send them and
I'm not even in the US, so this post is something I CAN do for them.

There is one dog at the moment,   Pebbles  , if I can only get the
link to work ...

Anyway, you can find her through Hexe's post on the Danno thred;

She has soft ears and a very marbled tongue;  we sometimes discuss
'tongue spots'  on here,  but has anyone ever seen this before ?  I know
it's THE most extreme example I've ever seen in my lifetime !  Very
noticeable and a real 'talking point / ice breaker' for anyone who adopts
her, I'm sure !

[Sorry this is a bit 'amateur-hour', still not very rehearsed at all this Links
business.]

Since the Danno thread will probably sink down to the back pages now that he's safe with his new family, here's the link to Pebbles at Coastal GSD Rescue  in Southern California. She is simply adorable!

And here's the link to all of Coastal's available dogs, from puppies up to seniors and everyone in between.

Hundmutter, to copy a link from another post and paste it into a new one, put your cursor on the link in the original post, right click on it, and then select 'copy shortcut'. That will copy the URL associated with the link and let you carry it over to your own posting, where you can paste it into the link function in the toolbar of the reply box. Teeth Smile

Truth be told, though, ALL of the rescues have wonderful dogs just waiting for their forever person to come along, whether it's here in the States or over in the UK; so while I'm a big fan of Coastal and the work they do [remember, they're the ones who helped get that starving black momma GSD snatched away from the owner, when we all thought we'd lost the window of opportunity, and who got her rehabilitated to the beautiful, healthy, shiny ebony dream now known as Emma she is now]  I also am a big fan and supporter my local shelter and rescues, too. German Shepherd Rescue of New England has long done a fantastic job of saving dogs across the entire New England region, and developed a branch specifically for dogs that exhibit strong potential for working as law enforcement and detection dogs when they began seeing an increase in the number of dogs that were clearly from European working lines starting to land in the shelters and on the streets.  Montana GSD Rescue, though not a tax-exempt operation, will do cross-country drives to save dogs in dire straits, and I think Steph's gotten about as many dogs from CA as she has from MT!  It doesn't matter where the rescue is--so long as it's a good one, that cares for their dogs well and screens prospective homes thoroughly, they need the support of those who love this breed.  Not sure you want to adopt a rescue dog?  You can always try being a foster home for one, instead--there are NEVER enough foster homes available to meet the needs--and see if you end up being a 'failed foster', falling in love with your foster dog and being unable to even think about him or her going to someone else's home.  We can all help, even if it's nothing more than getting the word out that these groups have great dogs available--that is REALLY important, keeping their names in the public's mind and on the public's lips.
