Hello everyone!
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I am going to be moving and I need to ship my female Shetland Sheepdog from Germany to the USA. What paperwork will I need and what vet work with a time frame. Info: we are going to be moving in about 2-3 weeks... I know its a very short amount of time but my husbands work still have not given us a fly date, even though we are supposed to be leaving the first week of August!

Rabies that is older than 30 days but not exceeding one year and a Health Certificate that is not older than one week, that's it.

all you need is current shots and a health certificate from the vet, can be issued the day before, time frame I think is a week

Unlike the US, the rabies cannot be older than one year to get the dog through customs and the health certificate cannot be older than a week. If you are with the military, make sure that your rabies is within that time frame and if it isn't get it NOW. Not sure if a titer would count.

Microchip can also be an issue. When I shipped my dogs from USA to South Korea, I had to have it on all my paperwork. I had it for Germany too but can't remember if it was an issue. Better safe than sorry though. I also had to attack information of all shots on my shipping crate. Make sure you have originals and copies with you!! Crate has to be a shipping approved Vari Kennel type which is appropriate to the dog's size.

Also forgot to mention, I shipped my dogs with stripped packing paper clippings for bedding. Not sure what other people use. I made a nice deep layer of the shredded packing paper.
